no ticket offer, yet.
Many thanks to all who put tickets into STEP. I wait to be adopted!

12:07.. and done from my phone while in the middle of the nowhere on the boat. I thought that was going to be a late number wow. It really didn't depend on your geographic location or internet speed.. know that..

But, I don't think this matters much other that the position in the queue. This is due to BMorg's own admission that very few tickets were put into the system at the start, and even fewer are expected long term.
This might change as the summer goes on, as Burners tend to be a flakey/free-spirited bunch (on average!), but most tickets will probably be transferred outside STEP to friends and campmates.

12:09 for me. No ticket email came though. I assumed I'd be near the back of the queue but it seems I was one of the luckier ones.

Three different people from our camp got into STEP yesterday. :02, :03, :22. All of them refreshed multiple times.

12:10 and feeling pretty good about it(at least better than I've felt about my likelihood of burning this year up to this point)...one question for anyone who knows..did they really cap it at 2000?

and people blame the ticketing company and the LLC ..
with most people reporting constant/continual/hundreds of refreshes.. or multiple browsers open... you coulda had 1 person seeming like 100 as far as the server handling the constant requests was concerned.... and some people reporting scripts to pound on it... ... hard to imagine any system holding up under such a flood...
if even 2000 people were refreshing 100 times!! .... server would probably feel over 100,000+ requests for the same page.. at that point it doesnt matter if it was just 2000 people... they were still hammering the crap out of it.
Don't link to anything here!

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
sorry if i sound dumb, but i'm having trouble understanding... i received my email at 12:21 which was directly after the confirmation page would finally load. if they closed it at 12:15 because thats when they had 2,000 people and the page wouldn't even work for me until 12:21 then how can i be one of the 2,000?
(still thankful i even got an email, even if i am at the bottom of the list)

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
i got in the page at 12:19 (9:19 my time) got the email confirmation at 12:24 but it reads that the email was sent at 12:17 mmmm... a bit confusing it seems that they sent me a confirmation before i applied...anyway happy to be in the 2000, my hopes are high, i believe if BM starts blocking the people from selling overprice there could be quite some tickets coming in through step.
it would be my 4th in 8 years, last year i got my ticket in august at $650. the first time i remember i have bought the ticket at the gates on monday...its really much bigger.
hope to make it again this year.

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
I received my confirmation at 12:01pm. Don't know how I made it through, especially since I used my phone to register. I then received notification to buy tickets at 2:03pm on Friday. Purchased 2 tickets right away. I feel lucky and blessed...all thanks to whoever put the ticket back into STEP. Now just hoping the rest of my camp mates will be able to secure a ticket.

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
I cross posted this in another thread where email time vs ticket availability was brought up.. but thought that it should be in here as well being as that this topic is directly correlating the two. This is an interesting informal survey done on the email times.. http://www.reddit.com/r/BurningMan/comm ... ail_times/

@STEP Participant
I say stay on STEP and give your warrant to a critical theme camp mate. We have already processed over half the want queue in a little over a week. Granted, we had a few hundred front loaded before we opened on March 2nd. But at this rate, I can pretty much guarantee you will get a ticket if you got on STEP in the first round. STEP is working. We will announce via JRS the second STEP round sometime this or next week.
This is good news

Where did this quote from Will Chase come from? I am skeptical.

The quote came from the burning blog re:STEP on the burning man website. It is at the end of the comments section of the latest blog on STEP dated 2/27/12 under Will Chase as he is responding to a question.

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
It does not seem reasonable that with a front load of 200 tickets, 800 more have come in through STEP in the last week or so. There has not been that much activity on this thread. If there were 1000 tickets distributed so far, it would seem that fact would be obvious.

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
I dunno, Dustdevil. This board represents a very small sample of the total burning population. What amuses me is that people are doing the same sort of trying to guess where they are and how likely they are to get tickets on that blog post as they are doing here. I guess it's the same thing of feeling less powerless if you can predict and interprete things.

Re: what time did you receive your STEP confirmation email?
OK, I will give you that this is a very small cross section. Now, when was the last time you saw someone who really has this information post hard numbers and dates. IE: half of the first step requests have been filled AND they will announce the next STEP sign up next week, AND practically guarantee you will get a tickets. This does not sound like a BM staffer response. They don't post numbers very often.

Also, two weeks and 300 plus response later, this is Wills' first response??? Just seems a little fishy, if you'll pardon the expression.

That was posted by Will Chase. I'm simply re-posting what he posted in the comments section of one of the step blogs. I don't see why he would say that if it weren't true. Don't be so down, lets all hope this is true. We will likely find out soon when the next JRS comes out.
