Scalping or Decepective Marketing
Here is a link to an Ebay ad. Is this scalping or deceptive marketing? I ask because the seller states the vehicle has been registered with the Dept of Mutant Vehicles. Maybe it was in the past, it certainly hasn't been approved this year because the approval process has not started yet.
I don't even see how it would get approved. Too much base vehicle showing.

Fifteen minutes later it is sold?

Re: Scalping or Decepective Marketing
Did this sell or was it just removed? The MV has been on the playa at least two years. Some MV's, they are not known as Art Cars any longer, with a lot of base vehicle showing were approved for night only if they had radical illumination. I was on the approval committee last year.

Re: Scalping or Decepective Marketing
It appears that it sold for the Buy it Now price of $10K. The opening bid price was $8K. If the listing was removed for other reasons, Ebay will disclose that.
I agree, it could have been night only.

You are absolutely correct! I was looking for the time that it was originally posted and it almost seems like it went in very early this morning. At least that is when the changes were made. I certainly did not see it during the past week.

On the amusing side of scalping, somebody has listed a pair of tickets for a quarter of a million bucks each on Stubhub. Will Donald Trump take Warren Buffett to Burning Man this year??

Somehow I think Warren Buffet wouldn't pay above face value. After all, he's still living in his 5-bedroom house in Omaha that he bought in the late 1950s. Hell, he could probably fund some art project and get a "Free" ticket anyway.
Trump, on the other hand... he'd probably make a big commotion about how much he paid, and how he didn't even check for other prices. Then he'd have a giant statue of himself in his camp and travel around in a giant EL-wired Segway entourage around the playa.

Indeed... and Buffet, while much less visible, is worth about 25 times what Trump is... not sure Mr. Buffet would want to be seen with a show-boater such as Trump. Wow, we're totally off topic.
