Hey did anyone see Spanky or Emilly Sparkle?
oh man! i only made one of three playa committments. i missed the web team meeting and the eplaya meet & greet. dammit.

next year. i swear. and AMEN to streamlining.

we had nine virgins camp with us. there were only 3 "oldtimers". great fun, but how one of our newbies thought it would be ok without tent stakes, i'll never know.

did i have to READ the f'ing survival guide to her?

*ahem*

Simple. It's fun to watch them chase their tent all over the playa.

Oh. Fun for them. Never mind.

i actually had gotten to that place by the time the last set of newbies arrived... but my beau is too kind hearted and anti-moop-minded to not help and give advise.

it was interesting to camp with more than just he and i though.

*snrch* I spent the middle portion of the week watching a pop-up tent across the street from me gently folding in on itself in the breeze.... At least they staked it in the middle.

Sheesh

Post by DangerMouse » Sun Sep 12, 2004 6:06 pm

I didn't even have time to look for meet & greet info before leaving for the playa so I didn't even know it was going on...

I did see Cap'n a few times but never had a chance to stop and chat.

Then there's that whole airstream incident which, unless Badger was the Ranger who was asking me why I was standing so close to an RV on fire (My camp was across the street and I wondered what the popping/sizzling noise was.) Then I was within 20' or so of him w/out meeting him.

Ah well, next year perhaps. Or perhaps not.

While an absolute PlayaNewbie this year, I think I get it a bit better and will be a bit more prepared fun-wise for next year's excursion. Now if only I didn't have that 1600 one-way drive. Ugh!

Or if perhaps I was in better command of english... Please insert the word 'mile' in there somewhere above. I'll let you choose where.

Things learned from this year: Never drink a glass of cheap tequila. Don't stand too close to burning airstream RVs. Bring more skirts.

Wise.

Yeah, maybe it's time to invest in some utilikilts. Long pants are good for keeping the sun off my fish-belly white legs, but they sure are hot! Shorts would work, but... it's Burning Man!

Tho of course you really can't wear utilikilts anywhere BUT Burning Man! :(

I think they lynch people here in Iowa for such things. I stuck mainly with BDU pants this year simply for comfort level.

Orange Camp? Rian, I met a couple of your campmates, if not you. One had red hair and the other was a tall chick with a serious Cockney accent.

They were in the parking lot of the Coburg Road Safeway in Eugene on Friday night when I pulled in to get my fruits 'n veggies grocery run. The Cockney chick said, "There is totally no room in your car!"

They said "Where are you from?" I told them and they said, "Oh, you're a local! We're coming from up north."

Was that you?

Sensei: Great to see you. Thanks for stopping by. The lip balm worked great — didn't get to use the whistle, though. Never been called an artiste before...if you wanted a wallhanger, I'd have just done a one-sided 'Hob and saved you a little money, not being a snob...Let me just say that Sensei is one sweetheart of a guy and very nice to look at, too :D (Or is that another thread?)

P.S. Met Quasilaura and Phoenix1313 (formerly Tzimisce1313). Most of the players for our LARP flaked out, so the Storytellers wound up convening at Spike's Vampire Bar and getting schnockered. Went home and came back with my lotus wine to contribute but Q was gone and some guy singing sea shanties was on the stage. Phoenix is a great pole dancer, folks! :D

Seriously, folks here wear them constantly.

Kilts are sexy.

Yes, I'm technically married until our 10-day paperwork filing grace period ends on Wednesday. it was a gorgeous, quick, hilarious wedding. I would have invited you all but the engagement period lasted less than 24 hours. vows got written a few minutes before (but i swear, they're classic)

for those of you who don't know my husband, he's the one out of seattle making things work and spinning mad beats in bunny ears in between.

And as far as sensei being sweet, wait until you get to know him.

What's the "grace period" for buying a handgun in Oregon? I 'd bet it's less than this. :)

And you still didn't answer my question about where you are registered. Now, let me guess: Cabella's? SportBike.com? Budgie Fanciers of America?

I would imagine that if Capt. Handsome had started a strip tease outta that suit it would have garnered *everyone's* attention.

(note to self, if you want to actually stand out at a burner gathering try nicely put together conservative cut clothes.)
