2012 Playa Events Calendar
Does anyone know when the 2012 playa events calendar will be open for submissions?
Playa Surfers have lots of fun planned and we are itching to get it on the books. . .
Many thanks!

Re: 2012 Playa Events Calendar
It typically opens up in June. Stay tuned to the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter, as well as have your theme camp contact (the person who filled out the questionnaire for your camp) stay tuned for information about adding events to it when it opens up.

Re: 2012 Playa Events Calendar
Keep in mind you need to know where your placement is before you can tell people the what and when of your activities. They usually open it a week or so before confirmation of placement.

Open? First I heard. Last year they closed quickly it was a couple of weeks and then they had the max. Maybe 10 days...
Do we even know what theme camps are accepted?

Giving this a merge with the earlier thread. Same answer still applies - stay tuned to the JRS for info when it's announced, ETA is June/July.

If you log in and try to add your event, it still indicates it is closed.

The "What Where When" for 2012?
Anyone know when it's available for submissions this year? Couldn't find anything on the website.

I'm pretty sure that they will announce--on website and on JRS--when it goes live.

No, you haven't. But, if you want to be sure to get your event on the list, be sure to keep a close eye on the thing. Last year, as I recall, it closed pretty quickly.

And as a bit of common sense, until and unless Theme Camps get placed, they would (for the most part) be unable to list their location. So it would make sense, at least to me, that most postings of not all postings wouldn't be done until after placement of Theme Camps.

Re: The "What Where When" for 2012?
No, they just need to know what camps are placed. Then you can find out where they are placed when you get the map. I remember that's sort of how they did it in the past...

If you wish to advertise your camp or event, you may publicize your plans on the Burning Man website in our bulletin of registered theme camps. You may also discuss plan ideas and recruit help on the ePlaya Bulletin Board and also submit your planned event to the Playa Calendar for inclusion in the WhatWhereWhen, the on-playa event program.

OK, I admit to looking into this last night for my own reasons, but you know what I know.....

Merging this with the other thread on the subject, over in the 2012 Art & Performance board. As others have said, stay tuned to the Jack Rabbit Speaks for a notice once that goes live.

Re: 2012 Playa Events Calendar
Stay tuned, folks. As per this week's JRS the Playa Events Calendar should be open from today, but that switch has not yet been flipped on. Once it does you'll be able topost your on-playa event to appear in the online Playa Events Calendar, and possibly in the printed What Where When guide. The window of time to get something into the printed guide is short (from when the calendar opens up to July 1, though we may run out of space before then). Events can continue to be entered for the online version up until the event.
Jack Rabbit Speaks wrote:When you are entering info about your event you will have the opportunity to submit the bite-sized 140 character description for print (please don't get too crazy with abbreviations, they get really tough to read when there are nearly 1000 of them...), as well as a lengthier description that will appear online. If you're with a registered Theme Camp don't worry that you're placement hasn't been announced yet, we'll take care of listing your address with your events.

Re: 2012 Playa Events Calendar
So, the switch is still not flipped or there is a glitch. I get logged in, but it says registration still not open, even though JRS says it opened yesterday.

Yup, same here. Maybe JRS jumped the gun a bit, or maybe there's a delay in getting the website ready.
