Colorado Springs Burners

Post by Lysergic » Sat Sep 11, 2004 3:29 pm

Just got back from that wild crazy experience of Burning Man for the first time. Was wondering who all from around here also went...I'd hate to think that my friend and I are the only ones who were reprezenting Colo. Springs.

Looking to find other burners from the pikes peak region to hang out....so drop us a line!

Peace

- played games in the penny arcade in Manatou
- made out in garden of the gods
- lived in black forest, attended outhouse races.
- intimate kowledge of the entire front range trail system.
- metal capital of CO.
- no shortage of meth heads
- lots of bored police, crazy christian headquarters along hwy 83
- remembers when there were no housig projects visible from black forest.
- used to have a stand-up hot rod contingent
- 20 years old and got the hell out.

been burnin' for years.

There ya' go! Now that's something I would love to see on the Playa. Sort of a 'Critical Shits', if you will...

haha! you know what samtzu? it was formed one night by a bunch of the locals at the bar. then they ran with it, so to speak, and created the largest fund raiser (at the time) for muscular distrophy in the state of colorado.

--- THEN, the a group of christians in black forest shut it all down.......
it went on for about 6 years i think. all about giving.
--- not to mention it was funny as shit and a blast to watch!

the race was like a drag race. you and your opposing team would start at the starting line, then race 1 mile down a hill and up another hill to the finish line. when it was finally shut down, there was over 18,000 spectators and participants. each outhouse had a rider inside as well.
(was on "Real People" the variety show in the late 70's).

--- those were the days.
