I guess my point is that no single system is totally fair, perfect, or conforming to all 10 principles. An auction probably has as many upsides and downsides as the lottery.
In the end, I still believe that a non-transferable, ID-checked ticket attached to a name is the best system of all. Hopefully they'll be able to pull that off next year or at some other point in the future.
