You save time during the spring/summer because there's so much of it. Then you spend it during the fall/winter when there isn't as much of it.

Or am I missing something?

What I have never understood is, if the day is an hour too long in the winter, and an hour too short in the summer, why can't we split the difference, spring forward a half hour, and be done with the whole cockamamie business once and for all.
