We're seeing Cirque du Soleil on Friday, and we're hiking on Sunday, with her best friend. I guess she wants a second opinion about me.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

I don't want to bring the happy thread down, but unfortunately my surgery was never approved. I'm not getting any help for my back which is why I had to apply for SSDI. Maybe Medicare will want to get me "able" again. Whatever. I will def be taking it easy on my neck as it still has 4 hernias in it. I am however doing ok as I am getting regular steroid epidurals. That helps with the sciatica. So walking is much better. I am trying to be positive about it and just get on with my life as best I can.moonrise wrote:Welcome back and congrats jax dee!
Mind if I ask ask how the neck surgery recovery is coming along? I've had back surgery, so I knda know...
Here's some brotherly advice from me...Please be cautious when moving into the new place, be gentle to your neck...try not to over do it.

Jax, I've never been impressed with AMA-approvel surgery for spinal problems - keeping in mind that I am not really sure what your problem is.
I would exhaust every other solution (chiropractic, acupuncture, deep-tissue massage, Reiki, voodoo, whatever) before letting those butchers put a scalpel to my spine.
So, maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

Re: Time for a Happy Thread
I've already spent 5 years exhausting my options. My option is now to be handicapped and bedridden most of my day because they didn't want to pay for a simple fusion of my neck vertebrae. For my particular condition it is the only option that will do anything. I am literally being forced to apply for SSDI and have taxpayers pay for my care rather than being able to have a simple surgery and rejoin the workforce. It's ridiculous. And yes, I should prolly move this to the FUCK threadUgly Dougly wrote:Jax, I've never been impressed with AMA-approvel surgery for spinal problems - keeping in mind that I am not really sure what your problem is.

I love Springtime. Grandma's apricot tree is starting to lose her blossoms. The fig tree is putting out leaf buds from the apical meristems. I've cut my lawn with my reconditioned electric mower. We have had a couple of weeks of warmer times and a week of light rain coming up locally. The air is clean and the local cart peddlers are out in the sun. The kids are out on their bikes and scooters. The world is turning around and life is good.

Damn, Oldguy, can I move in?
I'm so happy! I met a really terrific person online a few weeks ago and we were able to meet in person last week. It's so refreshing to find a person who is real and with whom you have so much in common. I foresee a long and fulfilling friendship in our future.

Re: Time for a Happy Thread
Last Friday, I treated my sweet new friend to a sushi dinner and a local showing of Cirque du Soleil's Totem. We had a great time together as we always do. On Saturday we both rested and took care of personal business. On Sunday morning, we met to hike at one of my favorite spots; she brought her best friend and her husband. We were followed by a half dozen curious deer, found beautiful woldflowers. Then later she comes over to help me take down my greenhouse dome, make some Thai iced tea, and smooched on the couch. All in all, a great weekend.

I told her she was charming, and she joked, "what, you think I'm toilet paper?"
Oh yeah.

It's St. Patrick's day. Someone in another thread mentioned "Danny Boy," and that reminded me of this:
