My work tends to be a workout in many forms. However, I find I keep tuned up by:

Walk everywhere possible. I like walking to the local bar, it makes the beverage a reward!
I always laugh heartily when I see people in a car circling the parking lot looking for the closest parking space at the gym.
Bike if it's further than you like to walk.
Disc golf/ball golf are both low-impact workouts, 2-5 miles of walking per game + upper body work.

I don't care what the borg says: feather-wearers will NOT be served in Rosie's Bar.
When I ask how many burns, I mean at BRC.

I think I'm up to 22 pills a day. Of course, 6 are the neurontin/gabapentin, which work on the nerve damage. I can see why survivor of Civil War amputation ended up hooked on laudenum/opium/morphine. If I had to bear that aggresive tingle 24/7 my grip on sanity would be loose.

I know Gabapentin, very effective for quelling the nerve damage pain. It can cause strange side effects i.e. extreme vertigo, nausea, and sometimes eplileptic "feelings", especially in strobe light settings. Doctor told me it's original purpose is for epilepsy and reminded me to space the pills far apart and take with food.
I wore sunglasses at night if I found myself in a sea of strobe lights at the burn, heh heh, better than a siezure (no offense meant to anyone suffering from epilepsy). (((Fishy))) hang tough. 8) 8)

Yep walks seem the best for me. I wish this area had a decent swimming pool.

Doesn't surprise me that you like golf CO, afterall the "we're not doctors" MASH characters were golfers (most of them as I recall) except maybe Hot Lips.

Rain and slush falling sideways here today, I think I'll bring my big ass golf umbrella on that walk.

Good to have you back dear sweet Elliot, the mastermind of Kinetic sculpture and our founder here at EFClub :D

Good for you Thorormr.

We MOOP come spring, after the snow melts. The county "snow munchers" are huge and suck up trash cans, firewood, skis, you name it, it gets chopped into bits and thrown 50++ feet. Then there's the bear problem, they drag umpteen million bags of trash everywhere, deep into the National forest. Tourists forget to use the locking bear boxes and the bears go to town.

Coming home after work late night I've walked into a few bears in the dark, going from car to house, easy to play dead because I simply fell flat on my ass, everytime (instinct) whoa! stay still and slowly the beasts usauly go away, so far. I carry a mini flashlite these days.

Snowing hard today, I think I'll carefully shovel the exits for exercise.

So we keep trying to spread the BM ethos, yes. I use the word "moop" at every opportunity. It's unusual and catchy enough that people really notice it and ask what it means. :D

That's funny, Elliot...

I have everyone at my workplace using the word regularly, now.

Back from our walk. Dogs barked. It was too cold for cats. Saw mushrooms, but didn't need them and the immunity granted won't still be working on Tuesday....

I took the little girl cats into the back for the yard visit. We all agreed it was too cold and damp to stay out. Rushed back in after five minutes.

My neighborhood could also use a MOOP patrol. One house around the corner, renters upstairs and down, always leave crap in the street as it falls from their cars. Bottles, cups, food bags, random CDs. Most of the time I'm the way to the bus or back, so I am not carrying a bag for MOOP. Maybe I could tuck one in my gym bag. But some of the trash is just nasty.

Everyone plateaus. Usually means you need to change something, drop some reps, add some weight, maybe just take two days off or even a week if you have been hitting it hard for a while. If your weight has been steady try adding a hundred or two healthy calories.

I think my big problem is proper portion control and cutting out bad foods. I eat healthy all day then... SNACK ATTACK!

I can dig the snack attack for sure. If you eat clean long enough you get to the point you prefer it over less optimal foods and suddenly buying 2% cottage cheese seems decadent compared to the fat free you usually get. . .or fat free yogurt is too sweet compared to the skyr normally in the fridge. . .clover honey is tasteless next to buckwheat honey.

I just finishing portioning out all my meals for my coming seven day work week. The fridge is filled with vacuum sealed pouches of roasted chicken breast and meatloaf with oats and red pepper, ziplock containers of stew, veggies and fruit for the juicer and two lock&lock boxes of powercake. (My own non-wheat, non-dairy, slow carb, high omega, high protein creation) There is also three pounds of steel cut oats, ground flax and apple butter for oatmeal, home ground oat flour (and flax) for pancake and eggs or chicken gravy and Mestemacher rye bread if I don't feel like making the pancake. Raw pumpkin seeds for snacking, and on the way back from First Responder class I'll be picking up a roasted soybean trail mix too.

One of my problems is cooking for two very different metabolisms, and sporadically at that. I'm losing very slowly on 1500 calories, while MyLarry requires triple or quadruple that to keep weight on. I never quite know when he'll be home, or for how long. It throws my eating plans off when he comes home. That's not an excuse or complaint, just something I need to factor in.

My "danger" snack time is mid-afternoons, especially if it is cold outside. I've been drinking tea, but the desire for salty or sweet gets awfully difficult to ignore. There's been a few cold grey days when I simply have my hot dinner that early, then snack lightly when I'd usually eat supper.

I'm having an awful time with overeating. All month of December I was doing great, and had myself down to 199 pounds, but after that some Evil Inner Voice (good name for a rock band) has been telling me to "live it up the rest of the winter". I eat mostly healthy stuff, but too much of it. I bet I'm Safeway's biggest customer of bulk Deluxe Mixed Nuts.

Last night while reading I was eating fresh raspberries, which is one of my all time favorite foods, and I failed to finish the bowl, I was so stuffed. Now THAT should tell me something. Raspberries good; a pound of them in one sitting... not.

So this post is an attempt to "change gears". Today I'm going to try to silence that Evil Inner Voice.

I love having a good selection of yogurts in the fridge for snacking.

I have learned to love donut holes for my truly decadent moments. My brain seems to think that 1 donut hole is the same as a full size donut. Cuts down on my over-snacking.

I have determined that some salty snacks go more slowly for me than others. A bag of chips goes reaallly quickly, and it's easy to eat to excess, but for some reason Spicy Cheezits are easier to eat just one serving of. So those are what I'm more likely to keep around, in case I think Gaaaaaaah need salt; although I will still (sometimes) buy chips.

I tried to cut out cookies and went to chips. I tried to cut out chips and went to crackers. I tried to cut out crackers and went pretzels...

So, I've decided that they are all really the same thing... Except pretzels were crackers all along, it just took me a long time to realize that because of the shape. And no, I haven't completely cut those out. And then there's random food in the office. I love random food in the office, because it's random. I'm getting better at not eating the random food I don't like, just because it's random. But the good stuff--I always figure it's the gods being good to me.

Or something like that.

Damn Thoromr, that an impressive fridge stock!

My dinner choices are limited, its what my mother makes for me. I generally eat quite well, lots of fruit and veggies, almost no red meat, and no pop or fast food. My weaknesses however are bacon, asian food, and salty things. Especially air popped popcorn covered in melted butter and salt. I'm trying to limit myself to only weekends of it, cause in a bad week I eat it daily.

I feel you about metabolism differences AntiM, Mr. Fufa took the winter season off hockey and still has the 6 pack he rocked in summer. Then whenever we eat together, we by default eat equal amounts of food. I have to put alot of effort in not to match him bite for bite. He feels bad when I make him eat more sushi rolls than me at restaurants.

------

On another note, I'm giving the "Couch to 5K" plan a try, and did a 20min interval run/walk this morning before class (60sec run/90sec powerwalk).
