One of my snack strategies is to have small pretty vintage dishes. I measure my snack into that, put away the container, and sit and enjoy my snack. NEVER eat out of the box or bag.
I also store my goodies out of sight.

Ah! Eating out of a pretty vintage dish is a good idea. I have some cute little "French" motif saucers that I use for crackers & cheese, but I never thought to do that with chips . . .AntiM wrote:One of my snack strategies is to have small pretty vintage dishes. I'm up to 45-60 mins of "leslie" 6x/wk. My fucking scale still lies to me. I've lost 2" and a cup size on my bra so it's still working. Fucking scales. I'll just keep going, and by August I'll have crazy endurance. My back doesn't hurt much anymore, so I know my torso muscles are getting stronger. My posture got better too. I've recently added weights to the workout. Cripes it's a boost! Especially the hand weights.

I got out the tape measure for the monthly check... arms and thigh, no change, but two inches less on my waist. Inch down on my hips, even with the seroma sticking out.
I go get it aspirated again tomorrow.

Thank you UD.
AntiM, you're doing wonderful...2 inches off the waist/1 off the hips is a big deal and close to crossing that 200 threshold. All with a man at home that you have to feed or keep food for when he is home. Inspiring!
Sweet, salty, I like em all

My wife and I did the 10K yesterday. A slow and steady 12 minute mile pace. Her first 'race', so I was proud (and I think she was, too). Good times!
I did some searches of ePlaya for Hash House Harriers. I guess there have been Hashes on the Playa. That sounds EPIC!

Just google "walk at home". Her theism seeps in sometimes, but I tolerate it because I'm sweating at every workout. Golly I must have x8 or so of her tapes. I have to mix them up to keep my interest. Really simple but effective. I can recommend her for every level. I'm an aerobics machine and I'm still interested.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I had a bad weekend with the seroma and the nerves in my abdomen. Very bad. Had to drag myself to the gym today, but I went, and I completed the class. Came home and had a salad for lunch, which I also didn't want so much.
Some days the small victories count.

That is amazing. It kinda reminds you how strong you are, in case you ever forget! And I am reminded not to whine too much.AntiM wrote:I had a bad weekend with the seroma and the nerves in my abdomen. Very bad. I can be too hard on myself for various things, or have a hard time getting stuff done. So I made a rule: a day on which I have worked out is a victory, even if nothing else got done. Naturally I would prefer to be productive, and am willing to accept some other accomplishment in lieu of exercise if I am not neglecting frequency overall, but I decided that (for me) a day with exercise is never a little deal. It is a good, solid day.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
If I get a workout done, I congratulate myself for being that much stronger and healthier. I have kept to my rule of not missing more than a day for 2 mths now. The habit is sticking. I'm also off wheat now - 2nd week. I have one more week and then I'm adding in no sweeteners. Little life changes, 3 weeks at a time.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
i think I need to quit my "munchies". i work out pretty damn hard 4 times a week right now (KAIA Fit) but damn if I don't make up for it in munchies and slow metabolism. I do have a rx for my metabolism but I'm really not much of a pill taker (because I never remember to take them on a regular schedule).
So I shall swear off whatever gives me the munchies for a bit and see if it helps...

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
So I am back to sweating at the gym. The lady for whom I have the "warmies" (thank you Risky, for that term!) saw a performer at Cirque du Soleil and said he had a "nice 12-pack".
And I'm the one who bought her ticket. (Smashes head against wall.)
So I am sweating and straining tonight for sure. And not in the way you think.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I use sparkpeople to track what I'm eating, and how much. It basically is what got my initial ten pounds off. Weight loss is more about what and how much you eat then exercising. I've seen food intake (or lack thereof) credited with 80%, activity only 20%. First step is to figure out how much you're eating. Munching is the surest way to sabotage yourself. I'm slowly ridding the house of treats and snacks; the plan is to start good eating habits when I'm grocery shopping. Eventually, I'll have to snack on something good for me. (Yes, I know, snacking and the munchies are two different things, but I haven't had the munchies since early October, 1979).lucky420 wrote:i think I need to quit my "munchies". i work out pretty damn hard 4 times a week right now (KAIA Fit) but damn if I don't make up for it in munchies and slow metabolism. I have to take two evening pills now, which I never remember to do. So I set the alarm on my phone to play "I wanna be sedated" at ten at night. I've only missed my pills once.

Thank you very much for the tips AntiM. I will look up sparkpeople today and never thought about using my phone alarm to remind me to take medication. Which makes perfect sense since my phone is always around me somewhere...

If you need help with sparkpeople, let me know. I slack off on it now and then, but it has been invaluable. The variety of people is interesting, I love the blogs by the regular folks. Such slices of life. I'm on as ANTI_M.

That was a fun site to read! I'm going to try some of the workouts on it.Ugly Dougly wrote:Found the coolest site for the Paelo lifestyle. Check it out:

On Friday, the weather was so nice that I decided that instead of catching the train home directly from school, I would walk to the next stop. That involved scrambling down the muddy/snowy trails of the river valley, hiking to the nearest foot bridge, crossing the bridge, then climbing straight up a dirt trail on a steep (+30 degree incline), 60m high hill and strolling another block to the station entrance.
It felt so great. Nature is my therapy of choice.
