How to resell a lottery ticket?
How to resell a lottery ticket?
I have a chance to buy a ticket from someone who one the lottery and now can't go. (Face value, btw).
Has the procedure been announced as to how to transfer the ticket to me, so I will receive it in June (or whenever it's mailed)?
The FAQ says that info is forthcoming, and I didn't see it addressed on this board, although I may have missed it.
Anyone know?

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
If you want a direct transfer, you need to wait until June when the tickets are actually shipped out. Until then, you can only sell back tickets to the STEP program.

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
The hard ticket will be mailed to the person who bought the ticket and they will then mail it to you. It's their ticket and they can do what they want with it. I would recommend that it be sent to you insured and with delivery confirmation.
Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
Bummer...I was hoping that the change could be put in the system now (or soon) and the deal closed. That just entails more waiting...and wondering...

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
This has always been the case with tickets ordered. This year they are not being sent until June, so that will delay you getting it in your hands. Other than that, nothing has changed.

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
What you can do is request the person to change his ticket to a Will Call ticket, then you can do a name transfer procedure on the will call ticket.
Shit, where was i for the last week... ehm...
Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
Thanks, Boris, not a bad idea...but I'm really hoping to avoid what I assume will be a long, long line.
Guess I'll just have to do what I can.

Now, lemur, you know the llc will video record the line and watch it over and over, laughing at the frustrations of the poor duped burners paying $4028 a ticket and spending 38 hours in line, while they roll in the money and have djs perform oral sex on them.
Just like every year.
Just like every year.

This scenario will take me 10 minutes to fully imagine.

Will call or mail out order transfers are not yet being processed.

Trilo, is there any date set for when that will happen?

I should've taken a bit more time because I forgot to imagine them rolling in money while getting the oral sex from djs. ePlaya can be so complicated. ha
I had this nervewracking thought of a scenario where someone promises their ticket to more than one person and a shit storm ensues in June. A scenario I wish on no one, BTW.
Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
I shouldn't be surprised that my simple request for ticketing information turned into a scenario of the LLC rolling in money while receiving orla sex dispensed by DJs.
This will taint my entire arrival.
Thanks, Crypto!

Taint? I'd say it'd enhance it.

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
If memory serves me correctly, the original purchaser can change the delivery address for the physical ticket (http://tickets2.burningman.com/shipto ). If this option has been deployed, consider having the original purchaser change the delivery address to your own. You will still be waiting until June to receive the ticket. There may also be issues if the recipient has to sign for the ticket(s). Suggest the original purchaser review the confirmation e-mail for any terms or conditions if you elect to go this route.

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
Remember that it was always intended that tickets would not be transferable in any form besides the STEP program until June in order to fight the scalper menace. Who knows if even that will change.

Never been in the will call line, but don't really want to add anymore time waiting to get in, ya know?

your wait at the will call line wont make or break your burning man experience.
believe me.
for realz.
you might want to be inside the city setting up your tent and seeing all yer friends but it wont make or break your experience..

Having waited in various length gate lines for the last 13 years, I'm fairly well-versed in what's involved and the effect it has. I was thinking of dong early arrival anyway to not have to deal with the Monday madness.

I'd say that was bollocks to be honest - we waited all of 10 minutes to collect our box office ticket in 2011... Will Call is not as shitty as you might think

Re: How to resell a lottery ticket?
Last year's sellout resulted in an unusually low percentage of will call tickets in total.
That said, the ticketing team is planning and staffing up for much heavier traffic through will call this year. Things should be manageable, just make sure that the driver of your vehicle is aware so he/she can make sure you're in the proper lane as you come through.

And that's to the right again this year? or have no decisions been announced?
