Morris dancing?

As if posting on ePlaya wasn't enough of an invitation to ridicule, I'm going the extra mile and posting about Morris dancing!

I'm a Morris dancer and musician, and will as usual be bringing my manjo (mando banjo) to the playa. Any other Morris dancers or musos going this year? Anyone interested in a pickup morris dance, like at the Saturday night of an Ale or a Hideous Will's? I don't know how bells will fare on the playa, but if there's enough interest I'd be willing to make non-leather bell pads.

If we get enough interest, maybe the fine folks who have done the Contra camp for the last few years will let us use their excellent dance floor.

My sister lives in Saddleworth and has seen the Morris dancing with the Rushcart Festival.

Adding "folsom street" to your search will only bring up the always excellent White Rats Experimental Morris, which may not be the best representative sample of Morris dancing. For example, they're the only team I know of that sews their bells to their skin.

Of all the cultural oddities my country has produced, I think I can safely say - on behalf of my fellow countryman - Morris Dancing is probably our least worthy export.

Which, in the seemingly upside down world of 'That Thing in the Desert', means Morris dancing really does belong on the playa*.

We tried to perform the Stick and Bucket Dance at a MayDay evening PEERS dance, and before we could begin they threw us off the stage! I guess we'll never know...

it is. Morriss dancing in discworld is a bit more interesting though. Having said that i have seen a few morris dancing troupes(?) that have updated the show a bit. A freind reckins its the english version of sword dancing but they had to take the swords away because dammit we cant be trusted with pointy and/or sharp things
