Increased Regional Activity
So from the vibe I'm picking up from the movers & shakers in my local area, only one, maybe two camps are gonna make it this year, circumstances being what they are. There seems to be a general consensus of "let's just make our Regional Burn that much more awesome." Though I'll miss the playa, I'm not against this idea.
What I'm wondering is, how widespread is this notion among other Regionals? Could this have possibly been partly (if not quite so drastically) the intent of the Borg? Especially after the CORE and the Man transitioning from one platform to another last year, one must wonder...

I've been helping plan our regional event, and everyone is very conscious of the effect this matter could have on our sales. As a result, we're trying to plan for a large increase in size this year.

I've been asked about the Utah burn quite a bit. We had a population cap last year, as required by the permit, but we didn't reach it. We might this year.

Re: Increased Regional Activity
Our regional sold out last year, which is why we've had a site location crew scouting around for months already. Further fueled by the Community*s collective indications toward dumping all their burning energy into the local event, they just announced earlier that they've got a site pending which would be able to hold all who want to attend. I'm hoping this is true, as there are a lot of us, and this could potentially be the most amazing Burning event close to default-home ever!

BTW, in case you're not aware; "Community" is now a drinking game. Every time someone says it, everyone drinks. That's two- drink up, hippies!

Re: Increased Regional Activity
For some of us, travel is cost prohibitive and so we go to the regional events. Shipping items from Hawaii to the mainland is EXPENSIVE to say the least.
After taking a year or two off, the Hawaii group is now having its first regional on Oahu. (It was previously on the Big Island AKA: Hawaii). So, with all the stuff going on with the ticket sales, we hope to have a sell out crowd here too.

FireDiva: are you involved in coordinating the Hawaii regional? Do you know Seth? Sounds like he's coming in for SOAK anyway, but tell him I say Aloha!

Lakes of Fire sold out lickity split this year, even after raising our cap over last years. We'll probably do so again next year and maybe add a day or 2. We do have the room to grow at our present location.. Volunteers are our biggest concern if we continue to grow.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

Re: Increased Regional Activity
By snafu you mean massive and completely unexpected increase in demand for tickets.
The whole of the festival space is seeing gigantic increases in demand this year, probably even bigger in Europe since no Glastonbury in 2012 (and if I recall, more people attend Nowhere from UK than even those from Spain). Good luck with the festival, it's definitely one I'd like to make it to some year.

BTW, here's a link to the 2012 Regional Events List. If you don't see your region's event listed, get in touch with your regional contact to get that put on the calendar.
