Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
All we know is that 2,000 folks made it into the initial queue (which will eventually be quietly reopened) and that several hundred orders were fulfilled at that time from the first batch of people poised to sell. After that, we've seen little bursts here and there (not everyone who gets a ticket on STEP is an ePlayan, however, so we don't always know). There are theories floating around about what will cause the next jump in ticket fulfillment, as you can see by reading this thread.ApolloPan wrote:Salutations friends! I'm in line on the STEP, but I'm honestly curious- can the Jack Rabbit, perhaps, send out an email to tell us how many tickets have gone out through STEP so far? It wouldn't violate the earlier rules of "you won't know what your place in line is, nor how many tickets are available" (you shall not know the day, nor the hour), but it would help many of us in STEP to manage our near-compulsive email checking. Thanks!
I imagine you already know that you will have 72 hours to accept an offer on STEP, so if you are going nuts with the email checking, you could make a rule that you can only check your email every X number of hours. Or, if there is some task(s) you've been putting off around the house, you could make a list and allow yourself to check your email once per task, as a reward.
That's the sort of thing that could get me to mop a kitchen floor.

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
Just checking..
Is the 2nd STEP, if and when that happens, still going to be opened without notification?
("quietly reopened")
That's the way I understood it when I read the info initially, but I've noticed a few random posts here and there that seem to infer otherwise. Perhaps they were making misassumptions, or I mistook their meaning, but mostly I want to make sure I haven't missed something here.

There will be notification by email, but not public notification--at least as I understand it.

Did you hear something besides this?:
Q: Will I be notified that the STEP queue is reopened for sign-ups?
A: In the chance that we are able to re-open the queue we will post about it on http://tickets.burningman.com. Alternatively you can try your unique link to see if it works.

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
No, I almost certainly didn't. I probably just switched them in my mind. Since I'm one fo the 2,000, the information may not have been urgent for me.

OK, I was hopeful I had it wrong - I'm on the outside of the 2,000. Getting notification would beat random checking if it does get close.

Sounds great! I hope you won't be disappointed if it's just me and my husband. Have to leave the chick(en)s home--the no feathers rule, you know. Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
STEP opened at 3pm EST, I was notified of an available ticket at 4:28pm. It was a tier 1 ticket ($270). I bought it, of course, but I'm debating whether I'll be able to go. The ticket price is only a fraction of the cost...and a small fraction if you live on the east coast. Since STEP tickets are non-transferable they can't be resold to friends and camp mates, they can only be sold back into STEP. It may be June before I make a final decision and I'm sure I'm not the only one who might sell their ticket back. SO...I predict a large(ish) movement of tickets through the STEP system sometime in June or early July. I have no idea if they re-opened STEP after the initial 2,000, but I recommend you keep an eye on it. More tickets will be available at some point.
Hugs and Hallucinations!!
Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
Sounds like they're finishing up with the 12:08ers now. Sadly that took over a week to get through that "minute"... so the pace is truly slug-like. 12:10 could be weeks or months away. But it does look like I'll get the chance, if things continue to move.
I disagree. I think there will be some people in your boat, selling tickets into STEP when they decide not to go this year, but I really doubt they will all happen in a clump. I think they'll just trickle in slowly, unless there's some reason a large portion of people will suddenly all at once independently decide not to attend this year. Like if BORG announces instead of fireworks this year, they're going to use heavy duty flashlights. Less pollution, and cheaper! :pkevin428 wrote:I predict a large(ish) movement of tickets through the STEP system sometime in June or early July.

Don't forget that any unclaimed 10k directed allotment tickets expire on March 30th and automatically roll over into the STEP pool, so the week after next could be very kind..

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
I hate to be a Debbie Downer & keep reiterating this, but all time-based guesses are just that- guesses. There is no way to know how many people are in each "minute"- there could be a dozen, there could be hundreds, there could be none; there is no way to guess from what "minute" has gotten a ticket where the queue is at.drutter wrote:Sounds like they're finishing up with the 12:08ers now. As they've said all along, keep your other options open & keep looking. I hope everyone already in STEP gets one (selfishly because I have friends in the queue), but the focusing on time-stamps is as reliable as guessing lottery numbers.
Congrats to everyone who has gotten one so far, and fingers crossed for the rest of you!

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
One might think"unclaimed"would only be from complete stoner camps who can't get around to buying face value tickets very much in demand. However it could very well be that many camps requested less than they were"budgeted"for. No one has hinted on the formula for camp ticket disbursement but perhaps Early Arrival passes from previous years could have been used as a yardstick. If that is the case and, actually in my mind any case, our camp asked for less than we were probably alloted.junglesmacks wrote:Don't forget that any unclaimed 10k directed allotment tickets expire on March 30th and automatically roll over into the STEP pool, so the week after next could be very kind..

I was given the time of 12:09:07 and just got 2 tickets from STEP 5 minutes ago (March 26th 2:30AM PST). $390+ fees. Thought I would post for anyone keeping track.

Well.. it could be from people that couldn't line up finances in time.. people that already found tickets prior to the allotment.. or people sleeping on the job. Out of 10k tickets, there has to be at least a few hundred of those cases if not more.
