buckethead alien wrote:Hey Joel, et.al. Time's cover story this week has some pretty scary stats about the border with Mexico. Budget cuts, money diverted to Iraq, etc., have left some posts unmanned. A old problem, yes, but the main point of the story is that tightened airport security may lead potential foreign terrorists to pass through our wide-open backdoor. Time lays a lot of the blame at the feet of corporate agribusiness, which is dependent on the cheap labor of illegal immigrants.
the difference in my perspective is "intent," that is to say, what is the intent of the illegal alien. the ones cited are economic pawns simply trying to make a living... clamp down the border with Mexico and I would imagine a wee bit of business hemoraging and a lot of families on both sides of the borders suffering... how to keep terrorists from using that border? i say, improve economic conditions in Mexico with free trade... yet, isn't that what is already being done, albeit clumsily?

regarding agribusiness relying on cheap labor, one only pick up any history text and read up on slavery to know this is true... the ugly little truth about our over-abundance of food located in every grocery store is that cheap labor got it there. i am imagine some would lay this issue at the feet of the current administration, yet isn't every single consumer benefitting from illegal immigrants sweat, and thereby guilty as any politician?

now, regarding the bold print above... yes, terrorists are going to look for the next weakness in the armor... that is what an enemy does.

what should we do to strengthen our borders? begin a draft of customs inspectors to actually work in ports, a whole new set of eyes looking at the comings and goings at our ports.... huge public works projects along the northern and southern borders creating sculpted barriers, like a FOREST or LAKE... but put young people to work... now, my question is... are you, the taxpayer willing to pay for this? and if you are... are you willing to convince the unwilling?

too much coffee, too early...

Let's just call this thread drift and call it a day.

Take some meds and read a book already. I'm not going to walk you down the path of how to dissect an argument, nor how an electronic voting machine can be made to be not worth the trouble to rig. Both require a basic understanding of logic and/or technology.

Of course, all powerful evil men can do anything, right? This can be refered to as 'playing the God card'. Or, in your case, simple paranoia.

Hey, I already said you won the argument. Enjoy the warmth that this gives your tiny, twisted mind.
All right then Logic Lad, here's an easier challenge for you; how about just CUTTING AND PASTING MY EXACT WORDS!!!!!!!! (I'm not that worked up, I cut and pasted YOUR EXACT WORDS!!!!!!!! to illustrate how both you and Joel totally miss the point, misinterpret, or misrepresent what you read when you're frothing at the mouth like this) and bolding the part you think is me saying we should seal our borders?

Oh, that's right, it's not there.

Who's the mental patient who sees what isn't there now?

Solutions? I did a search of your posts, didn't find them... i must need glasses... or you could send links to all the proposals you claim to have posted.

why should you bother? your credibility or lack thereof is why you should bother.
I'll do that when you actually respond to my point (on which I have you dead to rights, btw) with an explanation as to why the first post on this thread isn't a blatant misrepresentation of what I said, or an apology and acknowledgment that it is.
Well, you guys have illustrated beautifully how you're just a couple of non-responsive mudflingers who make zero effort to respond to requests that you back up your shit, and back to back too! Nice! I couldn't have done it better myself! Bravo!

I, on the other hand, have responded again and again, making painfully clear what I was saying, but it's become clear to me you will hear/read what you want to hear/see, and that this is not a discussion, it's you waiting for me to say something you can fling mud at, like little children.

So I can't think of a better point to step out of this mudhole and watch while you make a little mud effigy of me and fling mud at it to make yourselves feel all important...

Again, have fun with your little war.

**note; for those new to Joel and Rob the Wop, don't bother scanning this thread in days to come for the response to this post, there won't be one...

I'm pretty sure all I heard was <blah blah blah> mental patient <blah blah blah>. It truely is hard to have discussions with the insane. Buh bye.

As I had previously pointed out, I have already cleaned out the useless information in your post, stated your essential premises, and pointed out the logic that applies to your statement. I could break this down even further- but I know that you would be unable to understand what the hell I was doing the second time around. Even if you had the capacity to understand, you would still deny any ill thought out statement with the babbling refutations of a pathological liar. So what's the point?

So you admit that your conclusion was based on extrapolation, right?

Right.

And it's impossible for Rob The Wop to come to an incorrect conclusion why again?

I didn't notice any bolded words where I gave the impression I was for sealing our borders.

And once I clarify in no uncertain terms (over and over again) that I was using that example only to illustrate why the gov is full of crap, why would you continue to insist I meant something else?

Because you want to win an argument with me, why else?

Better luck next time furby.

give Texas back to the Mexicans, we'd be doing everyone a favor and let's put a Native American in the White House!
In my neck of the woods, the Wintun tribe is doing something they haven't done in over 100 years...the "war dance" to try to stop the expansion of Shasta Dam ( that will cover up burial and other sacred sites) Go Wintuns!!!!

I'm gonna' go with both Joel and CA on this one...

Go Wintuns, and slap my salmon!!!!

By the way, salomon used to breed in the High Sierra, until the turn of the 20th century when dams blocked their access to breeding areas. Progress, eh?

I learned to swim right next to the class III rapids on the Stanislaus at Parrott's Ferry, outside of Columbia. The river had already been dammed several mile below (at Melones) back in the 30's. The river up there was alive and vibrant.

In the 70's the Army Corp of Engineers damned the river (because they could) and covered up that area in 300 feet of water. During the drought (ten years ago) Parrott's Ferry was exposed again. It was buried in silt of a depth of up to twenty feet.

Twenty feet in fifteen years? So we could send more avocados and table grapes to the kitchens of America?

Yeah... slap me with that Salmon, Baby!!!
