bbcode enabled by default?

Postby lemur » Thu Jan 19, 2012 7:34 am

Maybe i am seeing it wrong..

but it appears that BBcode isnt enabled by default for new users.. correct?

is there any reason for this? (the spammers seem to spam just fine either way)

If it isnt already.. why not enable it by default ?

that is all.

(sorry if this is a dupe.. i didnt even do a search)

Correct, it is not enabled on the site by default. It's a PHPBB software thing.

hate to sound stupid, but what IS BBcode...
i often see people scolded for not enabling it, which now makes me afraid that I do not have it enabled either :(
altho, on my righthand "tool bar", it says it is enabled....

what does it do?

I believe it stands for "Bulliten Board Code" (only correctly spelled, of course.) It is the basic software that keeps this board running.

It allows you to use the [B] [i] [u] [Quote] buttons and other tags, so that when replying to someone, you can do fancy text. You can mess with it in your User Control Panel at the top left.

User Control Panel --> Board Preferences --> Edit Posting Defaults --> Enable BBCode --> Submit.

We don't really scold if someone doesn't enable it, but it helps with legibility, particularly during arguments.

Admit it, FOC, you're itching to start a BBCode smackdown!

(I have BBCode anxiety, myself.)
