My name is Diana, I am from Boston MA and I am a Burning Man virgin! Wanted to introduce myself and reach out to you all. I am so excited about going and would love and appreciate any assistance in finding a group or individual that would be willing to allow me to tag along with them for my first time.

The eplaya can be a wonderful resource of tips and ideas. It can also be a hateful bucket of malice an hate.
The best way of getting pages of snark is to ask some questions that a couple thousand others have asked. I suggest googling "eplaya tents", "eplaya shade structure" or "eplaya boots", you get the idea...

Sorry for not noticing your post earlier, I don't frequent eplaya much these days.
I jsut wanted to say that if you're looking to meet up with experienced Burner-types, there's a meet & greet at the Cambridge Brewing Company every Tuesday night. There's a surprising number of Burner folk in the Boston area working on cool projects and lookin' to meet new blood all the time.
