I love gardening in spring! Not much to do out there today, sadly. All my early seeds are planted, and the late seeds have to wait a couple of weeks until frost danger is past. The perennials, which have endured much puttering in the last few weeks, just want me to leave them the fuck alone for a while.

Well, instead of a fire, you could have one of those hydrothermal vents to keep your place warm. To ensure that the gas bubbles go straight upward and don't disturb your sandy floor, the pipe from some old steamship, nicely encrusted with barnacles, would make a good chimney. Some porthole windows in the sides of it would let you watch the bubbles go up... kind of a lava lamp effect. A few feet fins above the floor, a big piece of live coral would be sticking out like a pair of antlers. The dead, stuffed fisherman -- your defeated foe -- would be mounted on that coral, perhaps with one of his own hooks through his lip for dramatic effect.
