What other festivals remind you of Burning Man
So many people are complaining about BM getting too large, too many frat boys, not enough art, etc. I was wondering if there are other tribal gatherings that are smaller and remeniscent of the BM "old days." Any thoughts?
There...I said it and I'm glad!

Burningman is so many different things to different people that I am not sure there is an answer. Some other events might have a burningman feel for a subset of the population but there really isnt anything exactly like it. Having said that, there are a few events that burners might like. One of them is here in the SF Bay area and it is called Firedance. It is a couple of weeks before burningman.
http://www.firedance.org but attendance is limited. I think this year it was like 400 or so.
Xara's Floralia would certainly appeal to many. Poke around at:

There are boatloads more ... flipside in Texas, the one that was in Delaware this year and even more.

Next year, EuroBurn
Next year all the Euro Burners are going to set up their own festival in Spain.
This is going to be huge.
I myself was one of the founders of the Paddy Mirage and we had a blast at Burning Man for the last two years. But next summer we are going to take our crew to Spain (a couple of miles north of Madrid).
For those who are serious about finding fresh ground to explore the same vibe, this will be the place to go. It hasn't happened before and it will surely be an intense, amazing experience for those travelling from the states. The Spanish know how to throw a party and we know how to help them. Not many people know about this so spread the word while the time is right.
Groups have travelled from Europe to Nevada to set up their camp on the Esplanade at Burning Man. Its tough and takes a lot of effort as you know, but always worth it. The respect and feedback makes everything more than worthwhile.
Come to Spain and you will find a party like you have never seen before.
I think it's time for you people to come visit us.
You know what's in store for you. Nuff said.
Denis.
PS: check out the Euro Burners or our email: [email protected]
