Repaired the 3 tents that needed some attention, a torn seam, replaced metal pin on one that the tent pole fits into, and patched a rain fly. Started the many wind slits needed on our parachute for the big dome covering. Gained 2 new members for our Virgin run theme camp.

I am an idiot. I could do something useful for the camp, instead I'm fixated on the Russian alphabet...
Maybe not an idiot, but I do have a somewhat Quiotic streak. WTF?

Today I completed a 3-day battle with snaps (yes SNAPS!!!) to finish an outfit for a white party this weekend & eventually for the Playa. It's a great long corset vest that doesn't really cover up whatever I'm wearing underneath but ads the corset aspect to my middle, gives me some pockets, and adds a little hologram pizzaz just for fun. Silly me, I thought putting in big fat snaps for the closure would be easier than sewing in hooks & eyes. pfffft!

"...gives me some pockets" YAY, always!

Yesterday I bought more delicious fabric for the group costume I'm envisioning. I also have been researching armatures for giving it structure so it'll extend out from people's bodies. If I can pull this off, it'll be fabulous!!!

Today we figured out how to make the rotating teeter totters that I wanted that would be relatively safe and totally feasible to build:-) It has been bothering me but we finally got it perfect!

Today I picked up some glow in the dark paint. Tomorrow I'll do some art work on an older pair of hiking shoes.

wow, twirling teeter totter! you should google "teeter totter of death" to see a high flying veersion. yeeee ow!
I just received via UPS, a genuine baseball uniform. Grey with blue pin stripes. It's plain silly, but oh hell, it seemed neat at the time. So greatly discounted, it was less than a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Not the outfit that will dissuade the "hey, Dude, I like the lights on your hat!" comments. But, maybe I'll be able to tailor it some.

Can't go wrong with glow-in-the-dark shoes!!!

Today I got my 6ft of UV LED ribbon in the mail. *squee!!* Now buying a 12v rechargeable battery back to hook up to it to broaden my options on what I can light up.

Tomorrow I expect to get my raw LED bulbs in the mail so there will be all sorts of fun this weekend.

Love those!

Yeah, couldn't wear such a thing myself, but the idea is glorious and hilarious.

Today I setup the queen air mattress in the tent and realized that I need a bigger tent. LOL I guess I could get a small air mattress but that's no fun. I guess I can use this tent for the coolers and gear. I am glad that I am testing all of this stuff now so I have plenty of time to adjust.

Cut up some of Mr. Fufa's old t-shirts. One is now a skeleton back tank top, and the other will eventually be a hooded bolero-ish jacket.

Also oogled at folding tricycles.

it seemed like it took me forever to finish my playa coat last summer and I'm surprised my little sewing machine survived. It sounds real rough now...

Bought 2 more rolls of that sexy 6in bi-filament tape for my love shack (yurt)
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Keep your eyes open on your local Craigslist. We found one for $75 and it works really well, great design.

On thing is to be really careful that it's foolproof when you're not at camp to supervise the fools. Even if you put a sign on it, they will climb anyway. They think "Safety Third" is far too cautious, and they really hate rules at burnignman.

Testing everything off-playa is good!!

Nothing sucks more that having un-tested gear fail on the playa. It is one thing if something just breaks due to wind or whatever, but something totally different when (for example) your shade structure falls apart as you are setting it up on-playa. (so much for that radical self-reliance plan :( )

Test, inspect, anticipate.

Grab that tent and shake the bejesus out of it. If it seems fine after that it might be ok on-playa.

(bring some extra rope, duck tape (gaffer tape), etc so that if something fails you have a plan to fix it)

Sometimes that seemingly cool thing, that you got for super cheap, is actually a piece of crap. Better to find out at home than on the playa.

Spent most of the day getting tomatoes in the ground. Kinda a sideways One Item as we will hopefully be able to make some Salsa for the meet and greet from them.

Specific BM stuff today was de-packaging already bought items. You really don't want to mess with a lot of excess garbage on the playa. One life side benefit of going to BM is that now what things are packaged in has a bearing on if I buy it. For instance, instead of buying a package of nuts and bolts, go to my local hardware store and buy from the bulk bins. Win win.
When the only tool you got is a hammer, every problem looks like a hippie.

Every thing done on my playa coat but one horn, small zipper and the fur hood trim. While sewing it I put the sewing machine needle all the way down through the nail and out the other side of my finger... not sure how I managed that one, but it looked narly with a needle all the way through my finger! haha

Just ordered a Respro Techno mask and spare filters from playalung. Going to stress test the thing, I have plenty of solvent vapors to play in at work and I can borrow a 5-gas meter to make sure I don't kill myself.

Finally getting started for the year. Picked up two sets of boot laces the other day (I'm determined to get new boots this year) and then went and got some Japanese Workmen's Pants. Imagine Dickies, but with big wide legs that taper in at the ankle making them look like genie pants. Found a Workman's Store just 10 minutes away from me where they sell for just ¥1500. THESE ARE THE BEST PANTS EVER!!! Think I'm gonna get a couple more.

Went to the Goodwill today, got an umbrella and a BP cuff for 4 bucks. Went to the thrift store and got an alumminum cane and 2 more Sierra Cups for 3 bucks. I went to the doughnut shop to celebrate lunch. Bought 2 maple bars for 2 bucks and the owner threw in 6 doughnut holes... a good day.

Today I opened & tested a new batch of solar flower lights that will be used to keep our little home-space more interesting at night.

Also ordered some monster fur to trim a dress I already have. Looked up various resources so that I can light up that monster fur trim with some of the raw LED lights I just got. :D
