Hi Dactylion. It's possible that there was a spam attack (sometimes by a real human instead of a bot), an argument with name-calling and/or personal attacks, or a wildly off-topic digression that one of the other moderators split into its own thread or moved to an on-topic place. When threads are permanently locked, they "sink" to the bottom and eventually onto page 2 and further. If they are temporarily locked, they don't sink much, because people post in them when they're re-opened.

If a big kerfuffle takes place, the mods share the information with each other, but there's no info, which means whatever it was = probably a really small-time problem.

You're also welcome to make a post in the Introduce Yourself forum, although it's not a must. I never did.

Got my tickets through STEP today!!! Thank you to whoever couldn't use theirs!!! My timestamp on the original conf email was 12:09:24 for those of you keeping track. As I learned in 2010, the playa provides. Have faith all you who are in line. I can't wait to see you all on the Playa!

Just got my ticket e-mail, one ticket at $320. Step e-mail was 12:09:26. Looks like i'll be burning this year after all! STEP worked!

Now time to get to work on my articulated metal anglerfish helmet.

Congrats to all you happy STEP campers! May all your art projects bloom with love! This waiting in STEP reminds me of lines at the gate on opening night; getting somewhere slowly...Speaking of boots, has anyone got any insight into staffing the Will-Call center this year? I'm sure they'll need a lot of extra hands!

I'm told that Will Call will have additional staffing this year to help accommodate the increase.

Soooooooooooooooo.
The last known STEP offering was to someone with a 12:09:26 timestamp.
Keeping in mind the timestamps officially mean nothing (but unofficially have been a great way to approximate when your place in line may be called), I'm estimating at least a couple more weeks (possibly several) before my 12:10:53 comes up. All depends on if there are any mad influxes of tickets being offered for sale, really.
I will have my credit card ready to go if and when my time comes!
Thanks for everyone who keeps updating when they're offered tickets.

No way of knowing. It seems that 12:09 has a huge queue of people behind it.. we've been on this time stamp for a while now.

That's true; I keep forgetting that there were intermittent server crashes and influxes during the STEP feeding frenzy.
I (and apparently many others) keep assuming there's an even distribution of people for each "minute".

But we might encounter minutes when dozens or even hundreds got through (as 12:09 seems to be), and maybe other minutes
with few to no registrants (hopefully everything between 12:10 and 12:16...not that I have any ulterior motive in saying that!

I dunno, im smart and like many other on here. I completely understand, and actually predicted certain numbers to have more people. 09 and 10 seem like the biggest 2. My bet is still that 98% of 09er's will get tickets before 10er's haha.

When the physical tickets are actually mailed out, I think we will see a big lull in tickets being offered through the STEP. Right now, all tickets are basically a name on a list that can ONLY be transferred through STEP.

Once physical tix are in-hand, the only way those tickets will be transferred is through physical transaction. Those original bought through STEP, will still need to be transferred through STEP. However, that can't be possibly more than 1000-1500 tix at this point.

Are the 10,000 directed tickets all via Will Call or will they be mailed physical tickets?

I think it would make sense to NOT mail out physical tickets until July or early August. This keeps ticket transactions in the STEP system as long as possible, thus giving scalpers as little time as possible to unload their tickets.

STEP ends (I believe) once tickets are printed.
Directed tickets offer a choice.
Tickets wont be printed until sometime in June, which gives some time to process any mistakes, but also curbs the counterfeiters to some extent.

Jumping in to say CONGRATS to those who've gotten tickets! It doesn't look good from where I'm sitting (time stamp 12:19 whaa whaaaaa) But I'm not giving up hope just yet!

Plan B/consolation is a trip to Mexico ..I can get nekkid on the playa there too

if you bought tickets and are using will call, you can resell them back through STEP until Aug 7th.

I would also not be surprised if BMOrg simply change the policy on "paper tickets" to purely non-paper tickets as well. It seems a logical thing to do, and given this year's track record on changing rules mid-game, it would not be a surprising decision.
