Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
They said allow 4-6 weeks to hear back and it's been nearly 5! Just wondering if anyone has heard back thus far. I submitted my application 10 minutes after it opened, so I'm assuming I'll be finding out sooner rather than later...? So anxious!
Anyone?
Anyone?
Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
Nope. I think mine got in right after your. It won't be 6 weeks till mid month. I will cross my finger, my eyes, and the line for you. xoxox
Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
Thanks, you too!
My birthday landed on the exact four week mark. I was reeeeally hoping to not get bad news that day hahaha. So at least that's a relief!

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
Sigh. I wish they had started churning out tickets immediately. Especially after moving back the date two weeks. I have people on my team unable to plan until they have tickets. In fact no one will collaborate out of my network of burners as most are ticketless or waiting on low income or have significant others waiting on low income an won't commit to going until they've heard. Less than 6 months and not a single plan.

This is indeed correct. I was just hoping it'd be closer to the four week mark! Gah, what a scary week ahead of me...tattoogoddess wrote:6 weeks is april 11th.

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
The people I know who are waiting to hear figure it will be May before they find out and I tend to agree with them. Figure six weeks after the LAST application was filled rather than your FIRST DAY Application.
If they come before May, you'll feel blessed. If you expect delays, you won't be disappointed.

Ahh I just want to know my fate!! I'm terrible with things like this. If someone tells me they're coming over at 8...and it's, like, 8:03, I get overly anxious/eager/bleh. It's muuuch better to overestimate and be happily surprised haha. I just assumed that since it's kind of a "rolling" thing that they meant 4-6 weeks from when you applied. Especially since we're told to contact them if it's been more than 6 weeks.
Also, is it safe to assume that I'll find out via email?

Yes, it is safe to expect an email confirmation. If I were you, I would contact them at the 6 week mark and see what happens. Everyone in HQ seems rather responsive this year. I cannot imagine why.

You could always just join a crony-ism'd in theme camp and magically become part of the "fabric of Burning Man" that they're trying so hard to preserve via directed distribution. You'll magically afford a top tier ticket. Who needs artists, creators, MV builders and core interactive theme camp members when you've got friends?

..and honestly from the heart, good luck and I hope with everything that you find your way home. It just chaps my soul to see the "system" be abused in the name of good intentions or whatever the hell you want to call it. Those who know what I'm talking about know exactly what I'm talking about.
Hey.. in the end.. as long as we all get there somehow, that's all that matters.

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
this suspense is killing me! one thing ive learned about things like this though, they generally work out if its meant to happen! ive had no income at all for the last 60+ days, so its been rough. i moved back to minneapolis and i cant even find a paying gig. an email would make me my life so much better at this point. i still have supplies from last year and ive got a ride there and back! i figure my only costs are going to be food and water and whatever art i decide to bring. ill be thinking of you guys and sending out positive vibes! i really didnt want to do li this year, but its the only way i can afford it at this point! at least i made every effort not to and there are other people doing the same! burning man really is what you bring to it! hopefully well all have word soon!

That ship has sailed anyway. Any tickets from the direct distribution via theme camps have been bought or are no longer available.Jemma wrote:Yeah seriously. Um, that crony-ism'd ship has not sailed, Cryptofishist. Theme camps bought the tickets alright. Some are now offering them to non-theme camp campers. Don't get me wrong. They want you to camp with them, give them camp dues, and be "cool" (have to be recommended by Burners they know). They don't need you to participate in their theme camp, they just need your camp dues to complete the fund raising for their Esplanade placed camp. Ask me how I know.theCryptofishist wrote:That ship has sailed anyway. Any tickets from the direct distribution via theme camps have been bought or are no longer available.Jemma wrote:Yeah seriously. And here we were, pretending that only the PnP camps were the source of corruption, or that profit could be noble even if spent only on the camp itself.

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
Tomorrow is 6 weeks. I wonder if that means people will start to find out. I am anxious on behalf of my friends. This may determine whether or not I get to the burn myself.

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
BBadger: Truth be told, we were offered such opportunities in two different theme camps. One is a bona fide "theme camp". The other is what I would call a BM "infrastructure camp". We are very small group/camp (2-4 family members, camping with various friends each year), creating what I would call a "media project" since 2004. I doubt there is anybody on eplaya who doesn't know the project. We didn't get tickets in the lottery and MANY Burners knew about that, so the ticket offers sent our way have been interesting. We've declined the offers so far, not because we are above that sort of thing, but because it looks like our ticket source this year will be closer to home/Home.
There have been references on this thread and others to crony-ism as if somehow Burning Man and Burners are exempt from this behavior. Please. It's all well and good for Burners to be all "Face Value or Fuck Off". But "Brown Nose or Bust" tickets are very in this year.
If you really have a date with lemur this year, can I sign up to be a fly on the wall? BBadger and lemur? Together on the Playa? I don't usually like to watch, but I'd like to see how nature works that one out. (Then there's always that nagging doubt: what if lemur and BBadger are already roommates/lovers and are putting on a show on eplaya. You just never know.)

Sorry I wasn't more exact. Those tickets have been bought from the llc.
