I wish I was a gear head. I do the basic work on my cars and bikes but I don't have enough knowledge to be a gear head.

tpbm has is excited for this weekend

Yes, I love office supply stores. All that beautiful paper.... and boxes of pencils... I also love hardware stores.

TPBM prefers bookstores, where the paper already has words on it.

Yes I do! Powell's in Portland is an olfactory orgasm for me. I love the smell of books, old and new!

tpbm reads their books on and Ipad, or a kindle.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

No, I don't own any of those things. I still read books on paper. But I don't read as many books as I used to, and certainly not as much as I should. I mostly seem to read newspaper and magazine articles, and blogs. I think my attention span ain't what it used to be.

TPBM has taken a speed-reading course. Did you find it useful?

I have never taken a speed reading course. But I read really fast in the first place so, it never seemed necessary.

TPBM believes print is dead.

Oooh, I never got to turn the handle, but I do remember the machine. Not sure about the smell, either, but I remember the carbon paper. Getting one's hands on a piece of that was like finding treasure!

Well, I do have a tendency to pick up pretty rocks and bring them home for a while... but eventually I take them back out and set them free again.

I could, but it might involve Stalin, so you'd be huddling in your bed all night, waiting for the tramp, tramp, tramp of the Cheka's boots.
TPBM only reads sea stories anyway.

Well, I was going to suggest The Owl and the Pussycat, by Edward Lear, before you beat me to it, and that's kind of a sea story.
But generally, no, I don't think I have an overweening preference for those.

TPBM has really good night vision.

I have a great love for snakes. Especially the eastern ribbon snakes, with their gorgeous yellow racing stripes. They're shy and beautiful. I rarely get to see a snake in the wild, and when I do, I feel like it's a lucky omen. I guess because it takes some luck just to have seen it in the first place :)

In Brazil, there's this pale pinkish gecko thing they call a lagarticha. When I was there, lagarticha became my nickname, because I am as fucking pale as one. One day I walked into my bedroom and there was one on the wall. Despite never having seen one before, I recognized it instantly, because it was exactly the same colour as me. Fucking creepy. While it's definitely not my favourite reptile, I do have this weird connection with it now.
