Falling on a sword?

I have nothing to fall for, sir. I am darn proud of my work here, including my contributions to making the best that could be made of a tough situation when we saw this ticket thing coming down the pike. I was part of the team that created the system, part of the team that communicated when the tickets hit the fan, and I am confident our community will find its way through this painful birthing process as it dawns on us what it really means for this culture.

I've done this job for my entire adult life. As much as I love Burning Man, I'm ready to try something new, to make some room at the table for new talent and leadership, and to spend a little more time with my daughter while she's still a preschooler. I'm leaving to to focus on some other aspects of my intellectual person and take on some new challenges. Being Burning Man 24/7 has its ups and downs, and after 13 years I'm ready to pass the torch. Mystery solved.

Now stop turning my life story into a conspiracy theory. Mwah!

I hope that your next adventure, in addition to it being everything you could want and more, gives us opportunities to interact in some way from time to time. I asked a question that's been batted around our group over here and so rather than let the speculation continue I came to the eplaya and asked it. And the eplaya did what it typically does, it provided an answer. (With some unwanted flak but it wouldn't be the eplaya without it, thanks Simon!)

AG, in my mind you've been the face of this event along with LH since I first heard of it. To hear you're leaving was a bit of a shock for a lot of us. The genuine concern was that you were doing what your heart told you to and were not being taken out by internal politics. Your explanation puts it all to rest. I wish you well in whatever you decide to do, and I will say whomever follows you has one hell of a big set of shoes to fill. 13 years in one place in this day and age? Damn!

I think it's so the population cap can be dropped to 40K without anyone minding.
