Re: Realllly good clothing/costume source
I was just in , "The East bay Depot for Reuse" in Berkeley. They have a mountain of new table cloths. Shiny satins and sheers. (Wow. Say that 3 times. Fast.) Beautiful, elegant fabics. All perfect for a quick conversion to capes, panchos, flowing skirts or decor in the camp. I fell in love with way too many. They are big. the heavy materials were 3 for $25. the sheers were $5 each. Nothing plain about them.

This time of year, scour the post holiday sales for Christmas tree skirts, they make fabulous capelets, a pair can make a nifty skirt.

I pretty much talk up the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse at any opportunity. Much of my "Wayward Art" comes from there. It's also a place you can donate excess mardi gras beads and other plastic crap that you came home for. (Elementary schools and Nursing Homes, too. They can use if for creative gluing.)

Thanks for the 'scrap' link. I'll be sure and visit it on my next trip to the city. That reminds me. There is a good will or salvation army about 2 blocks west of the civic center bart station that is GREAT for textiles. It's on Mission I think. They have a larger than usual selection of drapes, spreads and material. Really low prices to boot.

There's the Mission/Van Ness one and around the corner is the "Last Chance" place where they put out huge bins of clothing (mostly) and whatever doesn't get sold that day is (I suppose) landfilled. Prices are cheap, amenities are few. If you like the thrill of the hunt, this might be a place to put on your itinerary.

Thank you. I'm adding it to my list. I usually take bart in and wonder, "What the hell was I thinking?" As I lug bags and armloads of stuff back to the station. I guess that's part of my SF shopping joy. With these wxtra stops I'm gonna drive in next time. Thank you.

Shop Goodwill thrift stores on-line.

I found several ground-length fur and faux fur coats (in addition to other fun stuff) just today.
Crazy...I had no idea you could shop goodwill online! We go to their outlet stores in Portland, OR and buy anything there for $1.69 per pound for our clothes to makeover.
