You're not the drama queen here as far as I'm concerned, at least. It's the folks trying to scare you and slamming you for no good reason, as if the playa is a survivalist situation that requires expert preparation. All it takes is moderate organizational skills and the ability to read a couple documents online. The first year I went, I didn't decide to go until the 1st week in August, and nobody in my camp knew I wasn't a veteran unless I told them. This is not a hardcore survivalist situation where you're walking the edge and can slip off with any misstep. You're not being dropped off in a forest for a weekend with nothing but a knife. You're not sailing across open ocean for a couple weeks alone. Yes, accidents happen to people, sometimes as a result of being unprepared, but the same can be said of any environment that has 50k+ people in it, including your average urban environment. Just read the documents you've obviously already read, make sure you have a shade structure, some food, plenty of water, some way to light yourself at night, some other obvious shit (a cup, a fork, and a bowl are all good) and you're good to go.incubus_pantomime wrote: Not trying to garner attention.
