Hi, I'm going to the playa this year with my 16 year old daughter.
I was all set to go to Burning Man ten years ago some friends, but something came up. Now I finally get to accomplish this goal. We have tickets and will probably camp by ourselves in or near Kidsville. We went to a noobie orientation in SF last weekend and I'm so excited about all of it.
I'm a writer, a sailor, a pastry chef and an adventurer; my daughter is a singer and a wonderful kid. We are looking forward to meeting new people and having our minds expanded.
cheers,
Europa

If you don't camp with Kidsville, then you may not have the opportunity to camp near them. The inside of hte city fills quickly. But finding a good neighborhood isn't hard, I understand.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Welcome!
Like others have said if you are not camping in Kidsville, then it might be hard to get close to them. Since they are more or less in the center, and surrounded by department camps, and long time theme camps. Since your daughter is 16, your placed into an interesting predicament of how much direct exposure to adult activities(sex, drugs, rock n' roll) you want her to face when she gets up in the morning. On one hand you can't treat her like a kid; kid. But on the other you don't want her next to an... oh, lets say orgy dome. (By the way I'm completely speculating, no offence is intended.) So you might be best suited to look up the traditional adult hotspots / neighborhoods, and think of spots away from those areas to set up camp, but not all the way back in the nose bleed area of the city.
Side note: There is an orientation? what the hell..
