All I've seen is drum octagons and dodecahedrons. In a dust storm they appear to be circular. Maybe that's what you're thinking.
There was a camp on the esplanade with nothing but drums.
You got drum?

hey hookagod, last year was tough to find a good circle true. I came upon 3 or 4. There was one in center camp - can't remember the day, but the drummers were playing latin beats and particularly picky (this is another way of saying they were asshooooles if you tried to sway to African, Indian or other styles) I actually had one come up and yell at me in limited English telling me to leave. Not a whole lot of comradere, patience, love, and all that sh*t you have at normal drum circles. I started or happened upon one or two at the fire camp and the fire artists loved us. That said, if you bring your djembe, I'll bring mine and we'll likely find others but beware the sun/heat on your drumhead and drunked out/ stoned beserkers who may adopt your drum when not in your hands - again, beware your drumhead! And expect your rope lacings to return with you dirty as hell.

Hey everyone..

its probably too late to organize this year..but next year if anyone wants a big space for a listed drum circle.

we have a 50x50 professional music stage and venue (usually on the Esplanade).

I would totally support providing space for that.

Hey all!

I would like to do a big drum circle at Sacred Spaces Village. We have some drummers but big drum circles by their nature need LOTS of drummers. We have a beautiful canopied courtyard, fire, etc..

I am thinking either Wed or Thursday night.. maybe 9-12 or 12-3am.

Thoughts? Anyone interested?

Put it in the What, Where, When, Whine and they will come. Bring extra drums. Consider having a day time session teaching some basics, if some one wants to teach it and if having rank amateurs won't fuck it up.
