Well, I'm smaller than a porn star, but larger than an altar boy. I dunno'... somewhere in between (I'd like to be somewhere in between!). If you are so repulsed by a professional sex worker (and btw, thank god there is ONE safe, regulated place in the US for them to work - NEVADA) that you would deny them the right to enjoy Burning Man, or deem it impossible for them to EVER engage in sexual activity without a dollar attached to it, then please reexamine your traditional misogynistic values towards sex workers and female sexuality.

There was a thread on this board asking for "sexy" bartenders, and a bartender responded that they had experience.... plenty of electricians get paid back at home, then come to the playa and get creative, FOR FREE, with their skills they normally get paid for at home.

I get pretty riled up that people are so quick to draw a line between CORRECT female sexual behavior (ie. half naked, fire dancing chick that will sleep with as many men and women as she chooses on the playa) and INCORRECT behavior (actually makes a living with sex and isn't ashamed of it).

Well, I don't think it was the sex that was objectionable, not at Burning Man; or the fact that she is a woman; It was the fact that she is willing to do for free what she probably charges an arm (short arm) and a leg for that makes everyone suspicious. And, I think people would be just as upset if she was a guy who did this for a living and had his own web site set up advertising it, and then offered his 'services'. Hell, I'm sure that there were more than a few 'professionals' at Burning Man this year, who just came to meet people and unwind, in a safe and commerce free environment. She is more than welcome at Burning Man... any commercial activity is not. Simple as that.

This has NOTHING to do with FREE love or all that. Have you not learned that bots and porn websites will say ANYTHING just so you click that link. She doesn't really have to give away free love, all she has to say is that she will give free love. Then a hundred of us click the website link for whatever reason and then a certain pertcentage of that actually make a payment of some sort. has likely never been to Burning Man and never will. What they will do is entice you to spend your money through a link they spammed out on the eplaya. So get riled up all you want, but this is pure porn spam if I have ever seen it. If this chick is so great I am sure she could get all the sex she wanted out on the playa without having to whore herself out just to be able to join some random camp for the week.

This thread should be deleted or at leas the admins should give them a stern warning about some of the rules around here.

Just report it to the admin--if you haven't already. PM them with the url of the thread. Admin wont nessesarily find it without that, and I think that they don't like to delete threads with out a complaint.

Why haven't I reported it? (I've done that to other commerce threads in the past.) Because by the time I saw it Badger was already having fun with the poor OP so I thought I'd let it slide for a while.

I think it's the term "free sex" which I just call "fucking" or "gettin it on". It manages to convey a sense of commodification of an act that I think of as a pretty special gift that goes both ways. It can be an act of play, of comfort, a sweaty sport, an animalistic frenzy, a very tender and lovnig thing (and I had a little of all 'o that this year). I just imagine KK coming to the playa and giving it in the spirit that dumb people give away mardi-gras beads to try and get drinks... the label "free" makes it into something less.

It also makes me think of the "Free Mayo" at '03. But that's maybe a free association I should be keeping to myself.

Obviously, Kristy Kreme is a real person doing a real job (six figures?) that just happens to be frowned upon by "normal" society. Well, we have all been frowned upon by "Normal" society, so, as such, she is more than welcome at Burning Man. As a matter of fact, she fits right in. As far as gifting her services, great... thats what a lot of the volunteers do there, although there is a bit of a difference between being the Potty Queen (you know who you are, and you did a great job!) and being the Group Sex Queen. Again, she is more than welcome. Like Lydia more or less said, she is offering something that goes on at B'Man all the time (did you see the blowjob pic that RevA posted?) and is accepted within that framework.
