Priceless Moments....Ode to the Bull Horn...What's YOURS?

Post by kimityme » Wed Sep 15, 2004 9:01 am

SO here we all are, thrown back into the default world, rambling about our experience....body schedules back to normal,
progressing with PDWS (playa dust withdrawl syndrom)...
remembering that way cool ~(noun)~ person, place or thing we saw at some moment or time....and
BAM!

I hear my son hollering in the garage, having a good ol' time and all the bull horns at Burningman came to mind...
"MOOOOO"
"BAAAAA"
"STOP and GET drunk, or get the Fuck out of the way." ohh the bull horns.

I knew he was finding trouble as four year olds tend to do...So we come face to face in the doorway and I scream "OH, NO! SON!"
and then....

a fimilar sequence...

Cost of one such BM Bull Horn - around...$5-$50 bucks

Dad's new (recently used) RV black water poo chopper
(elbow-shaped tube attachment) - 150.00 bucks

Discovering son use chopper as bull horn ~ GOODNESS!...

there I was washing his face and hands with gobs of antibac soap, laughing so hard I nearly peed....
let the light in...

Hehe, yeah, that is what I woke up to on Monday morning. Gosh, I wish I could remember the name of that camp across Mercury from Lite Brite. They closed off the street and had the megaphone out with their Homeland Security Checkpoint. Not only were they homely, they obviously had security issues, so it was perfect.

OK, who can identify this bullhorn quote?

"Where's your fucking mailbox, asshole!! Do you think I walked through sleet, hail, rain, and snow because I fucking ENJOY IT?! AND THE NEXT TIME I SEE YOUR FUCKING DOG, I'M SHOOTING THE LITTLE BASTARD!!"

security checkpoint @ 8:30 and Mercury

Post by sorrowboy » Thu Sep 16, 2004 2:00 pm

It was my privelage to close down that street on multiple occasions this year. The was a lot of action, excessive traffic, and a general lack of reverence for one's freedom to pass. It just got to me. I got fed up and there came a time when I felt the intersection had to be closed down. There were just too many people passing by. And that was enough for me. So closed it down and turned people back. I encountered many confused but friendly people including several Black Rock City Rangers, an EMS worker who didn't really want to play, and a few members of the sherriff's department who were suspicious to say the least. But everyone these days seems to understand that security comes first.

I look forward to closing down the street next year. I plan to lay fiber optic cables or water pipes. Does anyone have a jackhammer to lend me by any chance?

Oh, by the way, we are The Tribe of The Chattering Monks. I've retired that bullhorn in favor of a new, higher power bullhorn which shall make it's self known on the playa next year. Until then, good luck.

Note: a radical alley closure in Los Angeles attempted yesterday afternoon was not nearly as successful. There's absolutely no respect for caution tape around here. Hmmm - I shall have my eye out for a heavier duty barricades.

Until Then, stay vigilant against the evil-doers!

She did seem to be on a call. But security proceedures had to be met.

Actually, she just yelled at me and turned around. She could have easily driven around or under the barricade as many people had done. I would have even escorted her safely down the block and issued her a homeland securty snow cone as I did for the Sherriff and for numerous BRC rangers.

Next year I'll have heavy concrete barriers in place to prevent this sort of confusion.

NOTE: Closing down the alley and moving my neighbors fence in LA yesterday didn't really work. My neighbor got all upset and the LAPD came out. No one seemed amused at all; except for me. Silly police and neighbors!

Where the hell is that train??

Post by burning tent » Fri Sep 17, 2004 10:18 am

I'm not sure how many times I heard that 'train' before realizing it wasn't really a train.

"What time is it?" also could be a little confusing. You mean the time or the time? If I had to go with *priceless* though it might have been that fellow who staggered up to me and asked what planet he was on.

My guess is it was probably this:

They don't seem to have any pics from this year on their site.

I *think* it was actually an MV that looked like a ship.

You did better than me. I wanted to go check it out -watch the pretty train- and if it wasn't for that impenetrable three-foot high plastic fence and air surveillance I might have. ('Roger, Johnny, another train freak has broken out of the pen.')
