in all my experience inflatable tires have been great

Not sure what you mean by "better" - I've never had a problem with inflatables other than having to pump them up when I arrive. Flats happen, but that's why you bring a spare and/or ask around if you find yourself without one.

There are bumps to go over, so having a little extra cushion from the air in the tires is a good thing.

Cool, thanks. I had just read somewhere about solid tires and hadn't really thought about it. I guess the solid tires aren't really necessary on the playa.
