Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
As I understand it, there will be a full solar eclipse from 6:28 p.m. until 6:33 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. I guess Reno is the only major city that will have the full effect of the eclipse. Any Reno-area burners planning a get-together? Sounds like a pretty good reason to have a party if you ask me.
Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
Just head a bit north of Reno up 395. There will be an eclipse party there.

Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
Can you be just a little bit more vague?
Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
I thought that would pique your attention. Actually, I thought you'd know; that's why I was so vague. I'm talking about the LunarBurn festival north of Susanville on May 18-20.

DP, I meant to look you up at FurrBall. I was running the PermaPub next to the spin art.

Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
I didn't make it to FurrBall. I went to a "meeting" of E Clampus Vitus all day Saturday and had to get an 18 mile run in very early Sunday morning since I'm just four weeks away from the Calgary Marathon. Sounds like I missed a party, but from what Harmony and Skirblah said, the police were there in droves following everybody who dared to drive away as it ended. I would have been cop bait for sure. Sometimes serendipity works in mysterious ways.
Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
The cop situation is definitely an argument against non-overnight burner parties.

no, the company providing security there, has contacted some of us GPE folks. I'm not sure I'm going to do it yet, though.

Well if you do, let me know. Would love to meet up there. My daughter convinced me to go to this before we knew if we would get bm tickets. I'm looking forward to it now. It should be interesting and it is so close to home that it was hard to pass up...

Yggy, give me a call tomorrow. I might head up there as well, and drag one or two Barbiebarians with me if everything works out.

Symbiosis is going to present Charlie Gadeken's "Aurora" (the steel/copper/LED willow tree I worked on @ BM2011), and some other fire pieces.
I might try to ride up Sunday, since my pals Little Dragon are playing, and it has been awhile since I gotten my patchouli on.

i thought I recognized that tree in mock up of camp layout on the Sym page...wonderful

Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
Symbiosis tickets are now $280 to attend. $40 to get your car in, and $180 to get your RV/truck in.
So count on it being a wallet sucker.
See you there!
Otherwise, there are many spots to watch the eclipse free of charge.
Lunarburn is also happening, as well as
Marianarchy at Jub Jub's,
Social Distortion at The Knit,
The Erotic Carnival at The Wild Orchid,
RyanO's Paint Exhibit at Reno Art Works, and
BRAF's "Before I Die" show at The Nevada Museum of Art.
Gotta love Reno!

Annular Solar Eclipse of the Sun
On May 20th Sunday, 2012 the sun will be eclipsed by the moon starting at 5:15pm and ending at 7:37pm. See this rare sight at Moon Rocks-Spanish Springs, NV (Reno), the 3rd camping area, up the road from Winnemucca Ranch Rd about 2miles. That weekend I will have the 18” telescope for viewing, Friday and Saturday evening. Bring warm clothes and spend the night. Glasses to view the eclipse can be purchased at Fleischmann Planetarium at UNR or Discovery Museum 490 S Center St. For more info on the eclipse:

<bump>
Anybody planning to be at the Fleischmann Planetarium in Reno for the eclipse fastivities? And Saturday night parties? For that matter, Sunday during the day parties? Don't want to stray too far from downtown Reno, so Pyramid Lake is completely out of the question.

Re: Reno Solar Eclipse May 20
Back from Symbiosis...not very organized. Parking and entry were a complete clusterfuck~ to bad they couldn't teach more ethos, such as "moop your crap" There were lots of vendor booths set up so everyone could have the chance to look the same. Lots of wind and blowing dust on Thursday, couldn't set up my yurt until friday.
Was a good chance to see what I need to get ready for bm, definetly going to buy new yurt panels! All-in-all a good time, but very glad to be home.
The eclipse was amazing!
