Florida Burners

Post by formorefun » Fri Apr 27, 2012 5:18 pm

We are looking for burners planning on attending 2012 Burning Man who will be traveling from Florida.

Our hope is we can pool resources and maybe travel there together in an RV (the trip is over 2,000 miles), but getting there and back could be huge fun. This would allow all of us to bring everything we need that we couldn't take it on a plane.

Camping together would also be an option, but once to the playa you could camp anywhere regardless of where the RV ended up.

Shoot us a PM or reply to this post so we can start a conversation.

That picture is like a 12 car pileup. Oh, the bloody, twisted carnage. Want to look elsewhere but.. can't.. look.. away..

Yeah. pretty much the only thing to say is:

Get a Room!

but 200 isn't large enough to display my disgust.

So, here's my other attempt: Gee, you're cute, you're young, you're het and you've got tongues. If that's what I wanted, I'd be watching Jersey Shore.

Photo aside, anyone in Florida looking for transportation and camping options? We need to put this together in the next 2-3 weeks or so.

We are thinking everyone would pitch in 600-1000 dollars depending on if we get 6 or 8 to travel together. This would cover all RV and fuel costs for the trip. The RV is big enough so everyone has their own place to sleep. We would also be able to transport a lot of water, food, and supplies. If you want to bring an art project, we would figure out a way to get that there as well.

So far we have 2 travelers. We need at least another 4.

Welcome to ePlaya. That's a mighty nice RV.

You might offer someone a ride on the Rideshare boards. If I were coming from Florida, I'd be all over this.

8 people plus gear plus bikes in that thing? Um. May want to re-think that. Just saying.

At least one of those threads goes into 4 people being the magic number for an RV. I don't doubt it.

Maybe 1 or 2 more if they just need a ride, and bring a tent.

We only need 5 more people. Even if we can't all sleep in there it will still get us all there with equipment.

Savannah, good call on the ride share site. Thanks for the suggestion!

Keep in mind that RVs have a limit on the weight they can carry, and for a lot of them it's on the lower side. It might carry 8 people with regular luggage, but 8 people with playa gear, and water and stuff might easily overload it. It's not just a legal thing, it's a safety issue as well.

Doesn't mean it won't work, just keep it in mind, and be safe.

EDIT: These links might shed some light on the weight issue:

EDIT2: What Junglesmacks said. A box truck would have (way?) more weight capacity and might be cheaper.

that's a very nice rv (especially for the playa) you don't really think you'll get your deposit back do you?
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Yes.

I was referring to the fact that they want everyone to pitch in for it, but not actually sleep in it. Hence.. it would basically be a cargo carrying vehicle.. which in that case you might as well rent a box truck. Actually.. I sleep in my box truck.. and have a more room than I know what to do with.. and only paid $500 for it vs $5000..
