Thereby hangs a painful tale...

Yes, I like to find the cartoons I enjoyed as a weird child. I can't seem to recapture the feeling that any story that was animated was more fascinating than live action.

tpbm wishes that other decades could come back into focus as clearly as the first one.

Honestly, Fishy, I don't even know what that means. I have no idea whether or not I can accept the premise.

TPBM wonders why I didn't just Google Nick Cave and learn something.

No, not really. Since there are four (at least) songs with crows in them, and the absolute dreck two don't have crow in the title. It seems a lot of extra work to understand one of my little mental wrinkles. Although, it would be an interesting conversation to have with someone who knows his work.
TPBM knows just how much Mr. Sendak played along...

Sadly, I can't watch that video from here in Canada. Because stupidity. However, I think Sendak was a smart fellow, so I choose to believe that he was playing along with whatever Colbert was up to.

EDIT: I've read a few quotes from the Forbidden Interview, and it sounds like Sendak wasn't just playing along; he was conducting.
"Newt Gingrich is an idiot of great renown.... There is something so hoplessly gross and vile about him that it's hard to take him seriously. So let's not take him seriously."
On what it takes to cash-in as a celebrity on the book market: "You've started already by being an idiot. That's the very first demand."

Reaction to Colbert's children's book "I'm a Pole (And So Can You)": "The sad thing is, I like it."

On Colbert's drawing of a flag pole: "I would leave it alone because it has a kind of delicacy and irrationality and terrible quality of ordinariness."
On Colbert’s idea for a sequel to “Where the Wild Things Are:” “It is so bad that it not only will sell, but it will make pots and pots of money for you.”

Oh my yes! I love me some See's Candies. I have about 6 favorites and divy up the pieces to make a delicious pound. My favorite candy bar is a Baby Ruth however.

tpbm has the inner desire to learn tap dancing.

More like, an entire branch of the family tree is proliferating beyond its means.

TPBM knows and adores Taylor Ham.
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

Nope. If it weren't for The Google, I'd still be labouring under the incorrect assumption that it was a person. There are a lot of famous Taylors these days, aren't there? Anyways, I've never tried Taylor Ham, but I'm only halfway a fan of ham in general. Sometimes it's the right thing, but usually I would prefer lamb or chicken.

TPBM doesn't eat animals.

I have been cooking a little more than usual, yeah. I wouldn't call them "skills" just yet.
Cooking spills, on the other hand? I've been excelling at those lately.

TPBM, I hope you took a moment to be proud of yourself. You know you have lots of things to take pride in, right? Now head on over to the bar Da Bar and have a drink. You deserve it! And, besides, the lovely and talented Ms. Misa Blue has probably concocted something delicious, just for you :)
