Our help is here - Love Parade in Our City!!!!!

Post by Lysol » Fri Sep 17, 2004 7:52 pm

Hey,
My first time on the ePlaya. I am seeing a lot of depressed people out there wanting to party.
Sooooooo, lets party in our backyard, yes, some of you may not be from our City, but SF is gonna party down - Mhan!
Love Parade on Oct. 2nd peeps. Shit, we can get groovin, dress up and party in the street.

It would be cool to get a pre-event going somewhere. Kind of like a BM themed event before hand, where we can all gather dressed up like the lovely people we are and then head out. Any ideas??

Yummy DJs will be there too.
Mark Farina
DJ Dan
Hybrid
Sandra Collins
The Advent - - I fricking love these guys, from Austria!!!
Christian Smith - - Sickness at its best.
Doc Martin
www.loveparadesf.org for complete lineup

Floats with DJs on top. Will be very similar to the art-cars on the playa.

Sounds too good to be true.

A welcome relief / outlet for us to party and dance away in the streets of SF. I am definetely going. Who else is-ah-coming!!

Oh, its free so thats cool. Well, not totally free, they have a $5 suggested donation - easily handable. Is that a word? Easily achievable. F it.

I am going to be in the bay area this weekend. The only thing that sucks is I will be there for a wedding on the 2nd. So no Love Parade for me. It sucks but with the hype surrounding the parade I am fairly sure there will be many more to come.

I've seen the stories and pics in the papers about Berlin's Love Parade. Hard to miss the big advertisements in each shot. Who's paying for it here? I mean, a $5 "suggested" fee isn't gonna cover squat, is it? So who pays for the cops, portapottys, etc.? Let me guess. Yahoo.com?

I realize this comes off as snotty, but I really haven't heard that many great things about the Love Parade (good intentions aside). Maybe I just need to get out more...

Yahoo?? I think Sensei is making a double funny.

following the parade = free
getting in to the "festival area" at the end of the parade route = "suggested" $5
the cost of 1 beer in the beer garden = at least another $5 (not suggested)
figure beers & cocktails being sold + food + t-shirts/bumperstickers/glow in the dark pacifiers/mix CDs and the Captian Morgan dancers....oh hell, I'm going now, didn't get enough "thump thump" out on the playa this year.
I am a bit tied up at the moment...but if you leave your name and number.....

The last I heard the city of SF put in a bit of money because the increased tourism and support for a market typically shunned by the city will be a great community payoff. I could be wrong but it is amazing if the city goes all in on the event.

The folks who have floats in the parade (various SF party crews) pay a fee to participate. Sound familiar?

Space Cowboys and the Unimog will be there in full effect!!

peace,

The sponsors they chose could definitely be worse.

I'm starting to wonder if my snottyness (sure, that's a word) isn't due to the fact that I'm up here in Seattle and won't make it. And, yeah, there's no free lunch and someone's gotta pay for it. Save the last dance for me.

Sen,

I heard about a caravan of RVs heading down from Seattle for the parade.
This was through a friend - so the information is limited. But....check out Craigslist OR some other sources you may know of better than I, to find 'em and see if you can catch a lift.

Hey, Jason ... gonna be around on Friday night ... the 1st? The Mutaytor will be playing at a club downtown that night as a "warmup" for the parade.

You know I would love it but I will be waking up ever so painfully at 5am on the 2nd to drive from Pleasant Hill to Napa. If it were anyone but my mom I would make an excuse to be in the city.

The Love Parade Website is now listing information on pre and after parties.
If you want to lead the people, stand behind them.
