Things like that tend to be different in each state. There are definitly some jurisdictions where it's illegal.Adventurous Hobbit wrote:What are the rules to hitching in the US?

You might connect with the Minnesota regional: http://regionals.burningman.com/us_mn.html Also surrounding states and Canadian province regionals that would be on a highway route through the area. A road trip from there to BM would be epic with the right companions. Photos and videos!

There's zimride and craigslist for rides too.
Usually you can't hitch on freeways, though it's done.
Be careful or stay at the entrances.
Reno is closer to the playa.

Hi Gyre,
Thanks for the tip. As for flights I am trying to see if it is a viable option to fly to Minneapolis as I have found this to be the best deal for the date I am able to fly to the US...so far, I have found flights to Reno to be around 1-200 bucks more which I cant afford to waste. I am waiting to see if the prices drop before I commit...fingers crossed.

Be careful. Flights go up at some point again. I think there's a drop at around 3 months, and then tickets go up, because that way they can get a lot from people with fewer options.
Note, I don't fly enough to really know these things. Other people on the board will.

Hi theCryptofishist,
Yes, I have taken this into consideration...keeping a close eye on the prices daily.
If anyone comes across a bargain from UK to US on 23rd August, please let me know...
