Congrats!!! See you on the playa! Is it just me or does it kinda feel like tickets may be speeding up into step as people realize the financial and other hardships they face? Possibly some scalpers even bailing early, or potentially some new burners waiting till next year?

its just you

again, timestamps dont really indicate anything, we dont know how many people are in any one part of the range.. there could have been gaps, or large amounts going out at once (see over 6 weeks of 8-9 timestamp things) ..

dont get carried away with the timestamp thing~

of course, im sure youve already heard that

a post like the one you did is the very reason this has been repeated tons of times.... people jumping to conclusions.. getting their hopes up, or whatever it may be.... theres no reason to believe anything is going faster or speeding up.

Typically the "Holy shit, this is starting to cost more than I expected" or a Big, Bad Case of the Intimidations tends to hit around June--we see plans change a lot then, reflected by delurkers on ePlaya who say "My friends ditched me, I need folks to pack into my RV!"

Virgins are the most vulnerable to unexpected costs and fear. So there may be a little jump in available tickets in June (probably more so in the outside world of physical tickets). After tickets ship, Will Call folks will be the only STEP users through August 7th.

We've never had a STEP program in previous years, obviously, so it might be hard to say whether the June dropout rate will make STEP move more quickly, or how much.

Thanks for the good vibes

I don't know if the time stamp thing is relevant, but I do know that if you stop thinking about what you don't have and focus on what you do want, you get it. I also wasn't sure how I was going to get a ticket, but I never once doubted I would be there.

DON'T LOSE HOPE!!! It's not impossible, it just takes time. Plans change, things come up. I just hope nobody gives in to scalpers out of frustration.

Instead of letters, the roads this year should be timestamps... but in no particular order.

My camp will be located at 3:30 and 12:13... try and find me! ;) Of course we would add the caveat "Timestamp addresses do not officially indicate where someone may/may not be camping, they are only a general indicator... +/- 3 or for blocks".

It's all good though, regardless of how fast Step's moving, people who didn't have tickets yesterday, have tickets today - and I like that! :D

I can't help it if people aren't intelligent... or rude for that matter, so there's no point in trying to fix either. Anyone who has taken the time to read this thread should see the direct positive correlation between timestamps and receiving tickets by this point. Yes there is some variability, but if you understand correlation you would understand that yes, the tickets are progressing. And yes, there are gaps and large population timestamps. I never indicated otherwise so I don't get what you are arguing? In fact, earlier on there was a compilation of reported email notification times and it significantly showed that some minutes were completely absent of people due to server crashes and whatever else was at play.

For those who don't know:
Correlation- refers to any of a broad class of statistical relationships involving dependence.
Dependence- refers to any statistical relationship between two random variables or two sets of data.

Understand that a correlation is not definite! It is an estimation of dependence between variables with a set amount of confidence.

Based on eplaya results, there is a positive correlation between step email times and ticket offers. I am completely confident that there is at least a 95% confidence correlation between the two. It appears to be accurate give or take some seconds.

A post like yours comes across as ignorant and continues the discussion.

Since the rate they go out depends on the rate they come in, I would take any apparent "speeding up" cautiously. We are seeing a positive uptick in people getting them right now, but there's no way to know how long it will last. Fingers crossed that it does, however.

Congrats to everyone who's gotten them!

self reported ticket acquisitions on eplaya, or elsewhere, can be no real indication of the speed at which the STEP queue is moving at... we could have an increase in self reported ticket receivers on eplaya (due to continuing mentions of eplaya in JRS and elsewhere) while the actual number of tickets going in to STEP decreases.. ..or of course, any number of different scenarios

in other news..

with a decrease in the number of pirates, there has been an increase in global warming ..therefore, global warming is caused by lack of pirates.

Re-read the ststistical qualifiers in my statements. I make no claims to know where the step program lies based on non-eplaya posts. My comments only hold true for eplaya results. However... in this case there ARE enough results on eplaya to run a correlation that would be considered representative of the population. Basically in simpler terms for those who need it, the sample of people on eplaya who posted their timestamps is large enough to be considered statistically representative of all 2000 people who got into step.

Better yet, the entertaining sequential signs on the entrance road into BRC should have timestamps to approximate your wait time to the gate . . . but in no particular order. :D

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo F*!% Yeah! Just got my STEP tickets! 2 @ $390

First - a special thanks to whomever put their tickets in - it's sad to think that someone had to give up going so that I could get tickets.

Second - a thanks to all of those who posted their timestamps and ticket confirmations, gave me something to think about while I waited - and more importantly gave me hope of getting tickets!

Third - to all those still waiting, BELIEVE!! :D :D :D

Great to see things moving along. I'm guessing there were some gaps between 12:10 and 12:13, so I'm not extra hopeful more tickets are going into STEP. What I am hopeful for is more gaps! WE MUST NOT ALLOW A GAP GAP!!

Monday I got my STEP email. :D I had a 12:10 email time.

Yeah, I've read the discussion above about the times being relatively meaningless, but seeing people get tickets through STEP and seeing their times kept my spirit up.

I came THIS CLOSE to putting my art car base up for sale. Now I'm rushing around trying to plan a new mutant vehicle (we got rejected on playa last year for "lack of artistry"...with that in mind, and taking the more specific issues in mind, I'm determined to get a license this year.)

Hope to see you on the Playa...look for a pink sequined baby elephant vehicle....maybe.

casual rough count:

about 66 people have reported ticket(s) access from STEP in this thread (including 'well, my friend got one', 'campmate got one', 'i saw on facebook' type second hand posts)

The server crashed and no emails went on :11 or :12 based on a graphic someone constructed with information from several hundred STEPers. Time to stop hating on the time stamps. Of course it's inexact, but it's all we've had since transparency is about as abounding with all of this as the federal gov't. Quit raining on everyone's parades and spread a little hope around.

:D So happy for all of you with tickets. Hope you all manage to get everything done between now and the end of August. The ticket's only the first step in the long journey.
believe it or not every burner from new york doesn't reside in the chity. there's all this green space up north you may've heard about

right on 420!!..i'm with you..STEP isn't dying anytime soon!!..i'm gonna get my 12:16!!...and i agree with you blonde..everyone who's hating on the timestamp can drop it..are you even waiting for tickets?..i've been following and it's given me hope and something to do while waiting..and that's all that matters to me...and if i'm wrong and the timestamp is bogus..am i hurting you haters..no!..i know you are just trying to be informative..but you can let it go and let people believe what they want if it helps them and doesn't have a negative effect on you..right?

Can you use another term besides "haters", please? It's a huge misrepresentation of what I am trying to do, and it might make you look shallow and self-satisfied.

Ignorance may be bliss, but I still have a happy face and hope some how my soul mate gets through the STEP process so we can renew our vows on the playa this year. So I am joyed by the updates regarding those that have made it through. Yes a bit like waiting to find that Golden Ticket (Maybe next years big YouTube Hit :) Willy Wonka not Dr Suess :) ) but I am hoping some how to find a Golden Ticket. Only need one and one is all anyone needs who wants to go :) So thanks for the positive information and the "harsh realities" are pretty a known at this point, as we wait in the dark for the sunrise to arrive for those of us waiting.

in this context it seems to be a "stop harshin my buzz!!" type thing

it can be fine for people to get their hopes up... sure.. but.. part of the point of the endless reminders we see here isnt to be a hater.., at least in my mind..it is to make sure folks are NOT getting hopes up too high because they misunderstand what is going on (sorry to rain on the parade) .. as we saw with the 12:09 part of this tortuous step journey,.. and the :10 part.. it can be anywhere from 6+ weeks to a few days to go from one 'minute' to the next.

itd be sad for people to get hopes up misunderstanding the situation only to find out they ran out of options!!! whether it brings joy or not to idly sit tallying off STEP posts in this thread.. people should probably be looking somewhere else other than STEP to get tickets already ... and frankly, not everyone will likely get to go this year.. perhaps all of the folks currently waiting in STEP will get access to tickets, perhaps not.

as our JRS overlords tell us:
We encourage you to reach out to your immediate community of friends, camp mates, and local Burners to watch for secondhand tickets being offered -- it definitely does happen, and that activity will tend to increase as the event gets closer and plans settle out.
they started these types of encouragements/reminders early in 2011 before tickets sold out... then people were shocked when they were sold out with "no warning" ...yes! this is the warning!!

people can start to get integrated in to a local regional community right now (probably better than just showing up when tickets start going out)

http://regionals.burningman.com/

north america regional site:

http://regionals.burningman.com/na_index.html

Click on the areas around you.. each one should have a link to a discussion group, and an announce group.. sign up to both... start talking to folks, start going to events.. become known... get involved in the CORE things, if one is near.. even if folks cant make it to the burn they can still get involved in the community, if one is near.

we can all hold hands and hope with our good feelings and good vibes.. but in the end, in 2012.. theres gonna be some unhappy people.. perhaps none of them will be the ones lucky enough to get in to the step program.. perhaps not.. but.. someone is getting their parade rained on in 2012..all the joy that could ever happen in this thread wont ever change that
