Thinking about getting this for my in tent shower set-up with a garden sprayer? What do you think? I love that it folds down and has a spout.

Collapsible is cool in limited packing space. If it's not as waterproof as it bills itself, or you poke a hole in it somehow, you could get a little tent mud. On the other hand, with a sprayer you're not going to use a lot of water, so you won't be putting a lot of strain on the item . . . could be worth a shot.

I use a 2 foot x 3 foot concrete mixing tub (about $12) for in-tent bathing. It doesn't fold, so I pack stuff in it (evap pond plastic or a large rolled tarp) on the way to the Burn. Last year, when I wasn't showering outside, I rinsed in-tent (didn't mist). Getting the tub out of my tent required finesse when I had more than an inch of rinse-water. :)

What do you do with your grey water? Since you didn't mist. What did you use? Solar shower? I looked at that but can figure how to hang it. Thought about a used IV stand but not sure it could hold the weight (2.5 gal) so thought maybe the mister might be easier and more compact. However more expirenced burners told me the mister really won't cut it.

I thought about a tub, but since I'm coming from the east cost and the truck space is expensive (Boston rents space on a semi truck, but it's by the room you take up). I could buy a cheap tub in Reno and toss it but I'm doing a regional in July and am trying to plan all items for double use.

Planning when you live so far is such a challenge! I'm kind of enjoying it even if it's a little stressful.

I took the grey water outside and evaporated it. I never did hang my solar shower that year, but if I did, I was planning to hang it off one end of my shade structure (which is steel and 7 feet high) over the evap pond.

Here's a good evap pond recipe for just a few people (add a broom to the list of items, so you can spread your water out):
http://www.burningman.com/environment/r ... water.html

The best shower structure I've ever had was white PVC pipe in the shape of a shower, 2008 and 2009. It surrounded a wood pallet that was on top of the large & shallow black evap pond in the above recipe. We hung 3 shower curtains on the PVC using ordinary shower rings (they have to be flexible rings, & the PVC cannot be prohibitively thick). We didn't want to go to the trouble of staking the shower cage against the wind, so we took a few seconds to pull the cage into two pieces after each use, & laid it down in a spot well-shielded from wind. The shower cage had to be pretty tall to get the shower bag up high enough. It might have been 6.5 or 7 feet tall. I have also seen and admired [especially tall] tripod-shaped shower stands.

You're right about an IV stand not being strong enough. Another word on strength: leaving a shower bag hanging with water inside after you use it will strain or pop the bag. If there's water left in a bag, lay it down.

There are people who are dedicated mist-sprayers who don't officially shower, and a careful person could get pretty darn clean. The Burners you talked to prefer something else, and that's fine. You might try misting in your shower at home and seeing how well you do. My improvisation was one step further: Step into tub. Splash water on. Soap up with body wash and wash cloth. Rinse with canteen. It's a little more water than with misting and less than showering. You can do a great job (I get a lot of "How are you so clean?" out there) but you still have to collect or evap the water.

You sure you weren't a sailor in another life? The Navy has to limit fresh water on long deployments, they can only desalinate so much at a time. Sailors at sea learn to wet down, soap up, and do a quick rinse.

We're dedicated misty misters, it works just fine for us. In fact, I prefer a mister for my undercarriage. Hair needs a real shower, but I'm planning on using the camp shower once or twice for that. Most years I just kept it covered, brushed it once or twice a day and covered it back up.

I can only wish I were so well-discliplined. But yeah, it works!

. . . I do have a sailor suit. Men's small, real navy wool with white stripes, and little white stars. :D

He came home and went to sleep before five, was running hard to get back home. Last steel run into San Ysidro was a bugger.

And yes, he helps with the misting, which is probably why we like it so much.

I've tried to get him to take his sailor whites to the playa, but they're pretty warm polyester. The dress blues are wool, but he looks so dang hawt in them. I never got to wear that uniform, I had the suit. Bleh. won't fit but half of me now anyway.... and I think I didn't keep it.

:D

It's tempting to bring the sailor suit; it's so ridiculously warm I could stroll around in it on a 40 degree night.

Tried on a pair of Japanese Work Boots today. Didn't have enough Yen to buy them, but now I know what size I wear, that they are really comfortable, and that they seem to be Playa worthy. Think I'm gonna stop by the Workman's store on my way from work next week after I get paid.

will still likely treat myself to some good Red Wings when I get home though.

Oof.. tabis. That's what we called them in Hawaii growing up. They're great for crawling around on ocean rocks with, but for walking miles in.. not so much! Zero cushion or support.

MyLarry has some of those tabis. He uses them for climbing on the roof, but I'll have to ask him what he thinks of them for the playa.

Thanks Savanah for the response! I got the tub and will see how it works at the regional with a garden sprayer. Luckily, I'm going to have my hair in goddess braids (as I know my curly ethnic hair can't take the dryness) so at least I won't have to worry about really washing my hair.

Oh and today my $5 corset from eBay came In the the mail, and it was of pretty decent quality considering the price! I can't wait to paint it!

Larry gives them a thumb's up, but then he went barefoot most of his life unless he was forced to wear shoes. So his views on support are somewhat lacking.
