Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
45 year old straight not very athletic female not wanting too much sex or drug action/witness, hard working and resourceful, would like to be part of a theme camp who needs people such as myself. Also can offer car to drive from Martinez, CA near Amtrak(with me in it, but I cannot drive). Let me know.

Hello! The French Quarter is woefully short of help this year. Please visit our website: www.blackrockfrenchquarter.org and go to the camps page. There are a several different camps to choose from. Click on the camps link and it will take you to the facebook page. Post a mesage on FB and the camp director will get back to you asap. I hope you camp with us this year...Chakra - botanica bodhi manman nan beejeezus

Did post in both Bakery and Gumbo place on FB.
Thanks.
I also have a car (but cannot drive it) if one other person who is in or can get to the East Bay wants a drive/ride.
Thanks.

You may want to take a look at the Burning Man rideshare board, or consider posting your rideshare stuff in the Share Resources board.

You don't know much about eplaya.... ALL replies are pretty much off topic. And they get to stay.
Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
It's amazing you would treat someone who is attempting to volunteer at one of the many undermanned theme camp this way.
It's far from inclusive.

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
& just in case another theme camp needs an extra person and for some reason French Quarter finds they have enough people:
a. I will not be checking back here, no matter what email I get saying there's something here.
b. No one is going to want to dig down into a string of unapplicable emais to see if anything of substance has transpired.
OK to be joking around, but for some of us just trying to accomplish a goal is all the time we have and perhaps the jokes are meant for other philosophizing boards, vs. a message topic aimed at action.
So, if you are going to say something in return, know it will never reach me because I am not logging into this thread again.

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
Those posts read as garden variety internet snark to me (silly or sarcastic responses), it's what happens in response to public posts on the internet. You weren't being excluded from anything. For kicks, you could also have read any of the threads posted by camps to find one that suited you, or you could have read the "Theme Camps Seeking Participants" thread for a list of camps along with their locations and the kind of help they need. Good luck in finding a camp.

I get the feeling that we are dealing with someone who is not completely comfortable with English and it's idioms.

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
Seriously - I have one burn rule and that is zero drama. Most camps feel the same way.
If you can't take a bit of good natured joking on eplaya - good luck to any camp that ends up with you on the playa.

Anyone else wonder about the car but no driver thing? I'm not saying it's impossible, just saying that it sounds like a potentially interesting story.

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
I saw that in a thread long before this one but I can envision several scenarios where it might be possible so I didn't give it another thought.

That would be me if MyLarry couldn't attend. Two cars, a trailer, a scooter and a Harley. None of which I can drive.theCryptofishist wrote:Anyone else wonder about the car but no driver thing? I'm not saying it's impossible, just saying that it sounds like a potentially interesting story.

...or me....
I seem to travel best, crumpled on the floor in the back someplace, highly medicated.
I've never felt "right" in a moving vehicle (except for planes or trains, oddly enough). I can feel my molecular structure shift with every change in speed or turn of the wheel.
It's my worst dirty secret..... (or at least was)

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
Now that we live in the Big Smoke, we don't own (or need a car), but when we lived in a smaller city we did. And I couldn't drive it. I used to have a driver's license -- I loved driving as a teenager -- but I let it expire in my mid-20s because I had become a complete nervous wreck behind the wheel and a danger to everyone else on the road. I was never good at distributing my attention among all the important things (speed, lane, oncoming traffic, merging traffic, signs, lights... AHH! My heart rate is climbing just listing them!), and I got worse and worse at it as I became more nervous.
Like delle, I'm even nervous as a passenger now. I'm not as bad as I was a few years ago, but oncoming traffic at highway speeds still makes me visibly flinch, and I have to close my eyes and cower if it's a big truck. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with this particular neurosis.
So, yeah, if we still had our car... I'd be another one of these.

OK, I went back and reread these and am not really sure what was so upsetting. Or am I just too jaded, snarky, twisted, mean, judgmental, insensitive, and intolerant?

Nope. I watched this thread unfold in real time. The OP disagreed with Junglesmacks, Dr. Pyro and AntiM. It literally was that simple.jkisha wrote:I think you might be right.lemur wrote:it reads like a post was deleted...
