Low Income Ticket Program
Low Income ticket + ???
mys on and his wife applied (separately) for low-income tickets, and were awarded one for her only, apparently "due to cancellations." I said great, just wait and see if there is possibly another cancellation and maybe you will get another one. My daughter in law said, "I said that, but was told that it wouldn't happen, and they should "find other means" of getting him in.
Find other means?? What does that mean? If they could afford to buy a regular price ticket, they would. They only applied because I told them I'd give them some $ if they got tickets - they barely afford to eat!
None of us really know what to do with one ticket.

Not to belittle, but truly asking/wondering..
If they can "barely afford to eat".. then how on earth are they going to transport themselves all the way to the middle of the Nevada desert and survive for a week with all related travel costs?

They can barely afford to eat and they're going on a vacation to the middle of nowhere? Literally hand-to-mouth?
You sure didn't raise financially responsible children.
Don't know what to do with that single ticket? Here's a hint: don't attend. Maybe then your son can then afford his next meal.

Wow - mean answers.
BTW, not having extra income does not make a person financially irresponsible. You never know a person's situation. Just one good reason to extend kindness to others as a rule. I guess a person with "badger" in his name can be expected to have teeth. They are rather unpleasant creatures, I believe, although this would be my first encounter with one. Kind of makes our desert rattlesnakes seem kinder.

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
I do know that person's situation. You described it. Your son and his wife can--in your own words--"barely afford to eat." Yes, it does make a person financially irresponsible to be blowing his non-discretionary income that should be spent on surviving--a situation qualified by "barely afford to eat"--on luxury items such as going to Burning Man.MsOneil wrote:BTW, not having extra income does not make a person financially irresponsible. Perhaps you should have treated your son to a little "tough love" with respect to responsibility. Showing "kindness" (e.g. sympathy) to financial irresponsibility is harmful, and only encourages it. But of course, the apple rarely falls far from the tree.

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Low income ticket recipients should have already received a confirmation email. Nothing is mailed out to them, those tickets are held at the gate. If you've been awarded a low income ticket, bring a printout of your confirmation email along with your ID and of course payment, then proceed to the will call line/box office to pick up your ticket upon arrival.

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Thanks Trilobyte--I actually knew all that, but I was pretty sure it said when I was awarded my low income ticket that we would receive and second notification later in summer after they did all the cross checks to be sure nobody was playing the system and getting low income & normal tickets. I should probably pull up my initial email before I come here asking questions.
EDIT: Just read closer, that's what I was wondering about Witch Baby.

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Nope, a second confirmation email has not yet been sent out to low income ticket recipients, and would not be a part of this current process (mail out of physical tickets). I suspect that would come somewhere closer to or shortly after August 7, when STEP closes.

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Thanks for the info, Trilo.
I like to pretend like I'm good about not stressin' about this stuff but... I've been anticipating that second email for months. With two weeks left 'till I fly to Reno I've been F5'ing my gmail like mad.
lol

I'm having trouble believing I am going until I get the second confirmation. I really don't want to spend all my savings and then find out due to some computer error I don't have a ticket.

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Just got the email after getting home from one of my last supply shopping trips. So stoked!!! I'm sure it'll take a few days for all of them to trickle out, but know that you will get one!

Maybe "try" to wait another day or so, then send them a email... (I completely understand how stressful it is to not see that email, this close to the game. - I would be twitchy toomaryanimal wrote:Still haven't heard a thing...shoot...
