David Mendez

Post by cowboyangel » Sat Sep 18, 2004 7:46 pm

My longtime friend, My ex-wife's first husband and dear father of 4 beautiful children, David Mendez, passed away this morning. I've been with the family and kids all day and am going back there again in a little while with my son, who has a step brother there. David was as ideal a father as you could imagine. He was a friend to all, a singer, a carpenter, an amateur asronomer, a backpacker, an actor, a photographer, a yogi. I still can't believe this has happened. Your prayers good intentions or thoughts are welcome. I will definately be carrying David's picture, story and probably one of his trade tools to next year's temple burn. God Bless you David.

May the long time sun shine on you
all love surround you
and the pure light within you
guide your way on

Cowboyangel,

You have my deepest sympathies. It hurts the heart terribly to have someone pass who is so dear to you.

Take gentle care of yourself.

Cowboy... Our hearts are with you, and your extended family. It's terrible to lose someone and most things that are said have been said before. I know you will remember to celebrate his uniqueness and love of life. Next time you're out in the woods, life your face and give thanks for him... The Universe will respond.

Oh, CA, I'm so sorry to hear that. A balm on your raw hurt, that it may take some of your pain away.

Two poems to honor your friend:

*1*

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.

*2*

Beyond the rainbow’s end, there lies
The land of love and light,
Where shadows never dim the skies,
For there ~~ there is no night.

And though the loss is hard to bear
Of loved one, or of friend,
We know that we shall find them there ~~
Beyond the rainbow’s end.

With my warmest condolences, Kristy

Never easy, this life. David was blessed, I'm sure, to count you as a friend.
