Did you get a STEP Ticket?
Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
its understandable that people looking to get a STEP ticket would want them to delay sending tickets out.. a move that is mostly to their benefit ...but.. i really dont see that small pool of folks as worth stifling the greater third party burner to burner market/gifting market that we have seen historically
for lots of people, for various reasons, STEP isnt even an option..even if they got in it's not so good for people who dont have credit cards in their own name or who dont want to be forced to deal with the requirements STEP tickets have..
the physical ticket in hand is a great way to sell tickets.. even some STEP folks may be getting their ticket via a burner selling them one face to face, or gifting one.. this year
BMORG has, in my mind.. nothing to gain by falling over themselves to suit a minority of ticket buyers by changing things this late in the game.

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
I'm sure that the number of us still in STEP is so small compared to those awaiting their physical tickets, that even if every single person still in STEP walked into the ticketing office and asked for the physicals to be delayed another couple weeks that the ticketing team would still say no.
Time to start planning the fishing trip, eh VK?
It'd be better if ticking said, "hey you know what, you guys that are still in STEP have been so patient, we're going to fulfill the orders left in STEP"
haha, yeah right, I know...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
I am with you lemur. While I am waiting for my STEP ticket, I have other friends who did not make it into the STEP pool and are awaiting the distribution of hard tickets hoping they will find a ticket in time for the burn. Delaying distribution certainly helps my odds, but at the expense of my friends who are equally deserving of a ticket.lemur wrote:i really dont see that small pool of folks as worth stifling the greater third party burner to burner market/gifting market that we have seen historically.
I hope STEP works out for everyone here, but I do not think ticket distribution should be delayed for us.

this was from the 2011 afterburn report for the 'ticket process' :theCryptofishist wrote:I believe that they already said they will increase will call staff.
On playa, our Box Office operations went incredibly smoothly and our seasoned management team worked together like a well-oiled machine. After our experience in 2010 when the lines got too long, we nearly doubled the capacity the Box Office could handle. This required an additional building and a bunch more staffing. The irony here is that tickets selling out before August 1 meant far fewer ticket orders were held at Will Call. So even though our overall participant numbers were up, the Will Call numbers were down. The aspects of the Box Office that we're looking to improve for next year include better lighting, better positioning in relation to the entrance road, and increasing the number of windows that can handle the more complicated transactions and difficult situations. All in all, it was a great year for the Box Office.

so it was beefed up quite a bit from 2010... i would imagine in 2012 it will be even more beefed up than it was last year..

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?
I'm guessing this, too. Not only did BMorg simply say that Will Call will have increased staffing, but there will be more tickets there. STEP is new and all STEP tickets are @ Will Call, and the number of Low Income tickets was increased as well, and they're held in the same place.lemur wrote:so it was beefed up quite a bit from 2010... i would imagine in 2012 it will be even more beefed up than it was last year..

I dunno, but "beefed up" in the context of "dinner" makes me think of regurgitated meat. Maybe I'm just weird.junglesmacks wrote:I don't get it?

"beefed up" probably refers to the ever so good looking and witty Gate and Perimeter staffing.

Yeah, I bet they're pumping iron in anticipation of having to throw out the wannabe gate-crashers.
It's only because of Fishy's comment that "beefed up" took an untoward turn in my mind. *Shakes fist* Damn you, Fishy!

I think the ePlayans, or maybe just the ePlayan STEPchildren, ought to throw a thank-you party for those fed up folk one evening, maybe a day or two after the influx of people has slowed a bit.

What to do?
I'm in STEP for two tickets. Time stamp 12:15:37 (for what that's worth).
Yesterday I was offered one ticket through a camp I often volunteer with, a DDT (Direct Distributed Ticket) ticket.
One.
I am in STEP for two tickets so a good friend who is longing to go can share the two day drive with me from Tucson.
If I take the DDT ticket (which must have my name on it), will I be taken out of STEP? If not, and my STEP number comes up, can I get a STEP ticket for just my friend and throw the second STEP ticket back in the pool? Or does my STEP order have to include one ticket with my name on it?
I have until May 31 to decide whether or not to take the DDT ticket.
What to do?
Thanks dearies.

Re: What to do?
Assuming you're talking about a theme camp that was allotted directed tickets, I don't see how a ticket could end up with your name on it. The deadline to get tickets through the directed sale was March 30th. When ordering tickets in the directed sale you had to choose whether you wanted to pick up at Will Call or have it shipped. If it's a directed ticket then it's already been ordered and will be shipped to or waiting at will call for the person who ordered it. You should be able to say yes to the directed ticket and continue to wait for your STEP tickets and just turn back in the one you don't need (or decline one when ordering if that's possible, not sure how the transaction goes in STEP).Janet Planet wrote:I'm in STEP for two tickets. Even if they've reopened the directed sale on a case by case basis (seems like a lot of work to me), the system allowed one person (the camp lead or even someone else) to purchase all of the tickets (one at a time) and then distribute them to their crew as they see fit. Dig a little deeper with your friends at the camp, but I don't see how your name would be associated with a ticket.

Right there with you Arnoldo; got my guinea pig art car parked on the driveway, and it's a pleasant surprise to hear folks recognize it or share their Burning Man experiences with me. Couldn't be better, unless we all had tickets of course

I totally had a friend check my email while I was in the wilderness.
Only now I can't remember which wilderness or why I was there.
Just that it was 3 + days and neither of us had a smartphone.

my daughter's time stamp is 12:18 so we didn't worry about it while we were gone the last 5 days.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!
