Someone cut up a body and sent a foot to the Conservative Party's HQ in Ottawa and a hand somewhere else. The latter parcel was intercepted at Canada Post after the foot had been delivered. It was apparently not addressed to the Conservative Party, but police aren't saying to whom it was addressed. The torso and some other parts were found in a suitcase in the trash in Montreal.

The bus guy didn't actually cannibalize anyone (that was a rumour that got picked up by the media). It's a terribly sad story. He was suffering from undiagnosed schizophrenia; he'd been hearing voices for 4 years, but hadn't sought help. He was seized by the notion that the guy beside him was an alien, and that he was on a mission from God to stop the alien invasion. He's on meds now and is not a threat as long as he stays on them. He'll probably remain locked up forever, regardless.

There's a transcript of an interview with him at the end of this article. It's quite heartbreaking.

Oh, absolutely! And shocking. And very WTF-worthy! But also very sad.

The body-parts-in-the-mail story is probably sad on some level, too, but I don't know that side of the story yet (we don't even know who the victim was, or if there was a murder at all -- maybe it was a cadaver from a hospital?). All I know is that some really bizarre fucking shit has gone down, the kind of thing that you might expect in an over-the-top and totally unrealistic TV mystery show.

I think we are keeping up with American friends and their bath-salts-induced, face-eating weirdness. Only instead of eating people, we dismember them.
