I like that! Very elegant. And a little...Romanov. (diety help me, I almost said Hapsburg...)

It's beautiful, Simon.
If you want drama to stop following you everywhere, try letting go of the leash.

I feel like there are some clever things you could do, namewise, with poaching and scrambling. Alas, such cleverness eludes me. This is a job for Fishy.

Re: Fertility?
the notion of the fragility of fertility also comes to mind.
the egg is amazing strong and provides protection, but also is vulnerable to the outside because it can be cracked or smashed, dropped or eaten.
the first few moments outside of the shell are the most crucial to survival.
yes this is a metaphor.

Re: Fertility?
There's also something there about the chicken (or lizard, or tadpole, or whatever is in the egg) knowing, instinctively (?), when it's the right time to leave the egg. Too soon, and it would be unable to withstand life in the world. Too late, and it would suffocate.
This is something I have wondered about before. If I understand correctly, in mammals, there's an interplay of hormones between the mother and the baby. When things go well (i.e. the baby is not prematurely born or miscarried), the baby's full-formedness is communicated to the body of the mother, which then responds by going into labour. But the chicken (lizard, tadpole....) must give birth to itself.

Re: Fertility?
oh yeah, I see it. I rushed it a bit. It takes a little remembering how to mask and select and all that, so I got antsy and just drew blue lines. I'll return to it. the sperm should have a little color, they seem pretty gray.theCryptofishist wrote:Those sperm are a little reminiscent of que-tips.
