The volvo 240 gas engine routinely goes past a million miles and counting.
The same engines have been pushed to over 700 hp.

Even some cars with 'poor' reputations among those that don't know, but are tough, are out there.

There are plenty of other examples and plenty of crap to avoid too.

The 225 is fucking tough.
I had one once.

Thank you so much for the kind thoughts, I think they're working! My mum is expected to be home by Wednesday. Still gonna be sore awhile and keep an eye on that lung, but she is doing really well and the doctors have no worries. I really feel a lot better today after hearing that and I hope to be able to see her this week at some point. Thank you all so much for always being there. ((Hugs)) to all of you still going through your own fucking shit.

So sick of this fucking cough.

Lay in bed for an hour, coughing, keeping my poor partner awake. Moved into the living room, set up the sofabed in there as my sickbed, spent another 2 hours in there, dozed a bit between coughing fits, but no real sleep. Haven't had a decent night in a week, and I'm beyond exhausted. During the day, I feel fine (tired, but fine), but all night (whether up or down) and any time I try to sleep... fuggedaboudit. Meds not helping, even the nighttime ones.

It's not like it's anything serious. It's a fucking cold. But it's so annoying. And I'm in this vicious fucking circle of sickness and lack of sleep...

Fuck Cat, sure you don't have whooping cough? Same symptoms, more coughing. Been a bad outbreak here, and most adults don't get the booster shots. Hope you fucking feel better soon.

Fucking good news Jax.

Fuck, cat, I had one of those earlier this year. I got the real cough syrup and while it took a while to really kill it, there was a fucking improvement in the first day or two. Sure beat fucking waking up in the middle of the fucking night coughing...

Thanks, AntiM!

I don't think it's whooping cough, although that thought definitely crossed my mind (turns out, it's going around here, too). My coughing spells are long and rhythmic, rather than spastic. I don't come up gagging or gasping for air. I'm a week in, so I'll fuckingtough it out for a couple more days before I bother a doctor. And by "tough it out," I mean stay at home and feel sorry for myself ;)

Thank for the sympathy, AntiM. It's helping :)

When I had whooping cough, I was told it is impossible, but a friend of mine coughed himself to death.

Maybe a doctor?

Clearly a case of fucking aplayatosis. You're going to need at least a week inhaling dust, but you should be able to alleviate symptoms for a time by huffing your reserve supply. An alternative is to sit in a tent and sand drywall — if possible, use a heater to increase the temperature to 110°F.
May your deeds return to you tenfold,

Ha, I'll have some tea and sympathy ready. Getting the good cough syrup from a doctor is difficult these days, and the OTC stuff is only minimally helpful.

Oh, and fuck. So maybe some fucking tea and fucking sympathy.

("Tea and Sympathy" might be a fun idea for a theme camp. Hmmm...)

Time for a random CitFH story! When I was a little kid (about 7 years old), I found a box of very pretty "Thank-you for your sympathy" cards at a church rummage sale. I think it was a dime for the whole batch. They were very old-fashioned -- violets, faux-gilt script, stilted language. Of course, they were meant for bereaved people to give out to those who had sent them gifts/expressions of condolence, but they were so vaguely/delicately worded that I thought they were for giving whenever you had felt sad and someone had comforted you. I totally smitten by them, and I had people in mind to give them to -- my teacher, some nice ladies from church, my ringuette coach, my best friend's parents... (I was a hypersensitive kid who often needed cheering up). I bought them and rushed back to show my parents and tell them my plans. Sadly, they didn't share my excitement; I think they were a bit mortified at the thought of their daughter giving them out to people they knew. They made me return them. I get their point, but on the other hand, I think it would have been hilarious for those people to get them.

"That one got me. fuck unjon you made water spew out my nose."

His work is done.

Reminds me of a small incident a couple of weeks back. I just wanted coffee in the a.m. at McDonald' and the lady asked me if I'd like to try a 'bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit with that....'

I got to the drive through window, looked the order taker straight in the eyes, and said,

""you were trying to suggestive sell me the biscuit, right?"

She took a sip of her soda and replied, "um....yeah...."

I raised my eyebrows and dropped my voice an octave or two and replied.....

"Your Jedi mind tricks don't work on me....."

She spewed her soda all over her order screen.

heh, heh...my work was done......

Fuck McDonald's.

hahaha... you have made me reminisce my childhood days and that means random story time?
When we was about 11, there was this boy in school who was picking on my friend a lot.
One evening after school, my friend and I were walking by the class and spotted the boy sitting by himself in the class.
My friend said "This guy keeps picking on me. It's so annoying."
I said "Then do something about it."
She stopped, turned around and walked back to the class. I rushed behind her.
She walked into the class. I stood at the entrance watching her.
The guy looked at her and said something in a teasing way. Before I know it, she landed a punch on his face. I was grinning at this.
The guy actually bled. Next day, we both were sent to principal's office. The guy never bothered her again.

All I can say, is that if I had received a sympathy card from a little girl I had helped, I wouldn't be offended. I really hope I would see the thought behind that gesture, and not the socially inappropriate packaging.
