They closed the STEP queue after 2,000 registrations, but if they get far enough through the queue (whatever that means to HQ) they have said that they will reopen it, and it'll happen quietly--there will not be an announcement.

If I were not in STEP and wanted to be, I would check the tickets page frequently.

ETA: However, if you're offered a ticket in any other reliable way, however: take it. I hope that goes without saying.

Didn't they say they'd email the people who didn't get drawn in the main sale?

"Q: Will you reopen the STEP queue?
A: If we get enough tickets coming into the system to feel confident that the people already signed up in the queue will be satisfied, we will re-open the list for sign ups. You are strongly encouraged to not count on the re-opening of the queue for tickets and to connect with your immediate community to see who may have an extra ticket for you.

Q: Will I be notified that the STEP queue is reopened for sign-ups?
A: In the chance that we are able to re-open the queue we will post about it on http://tickets.burningman.com. Alternatively you can try your unique link to see if it works."

"Rather than allow an unlimited queue of WANT to form without any reasonable chance of an equally high number of HAVE tickets entering the system we will need to pause the sign ups when the WANT list reaches 2000. We will reopen the list periodically as a few hundred tickets are sold. This will happen on a revolving basis contingent upon the flow and rate of exchanges that transpire. We will not be sending any further warning emails about the pending pause or the reopening. It is up to you, the WANT-lister to check back via your URL as you see fit."

did you read the article though? Unless Trilo is on the board, then go ahead and ignore me...
Now that BRC has received a high population cap, it could conceivably sell more tickets to this year's event, something Goodell said the board will consider, weighing that against the imperative of staying under the population cap this year. “The board needs to talk about what the ramifications of that are. There is a lot of demand out there,” Goodell told us.
Also, what Crypto jumped on me for saying.... his assumptions were totally wrong; clearly the BLM wasn't too upset. Absolutes seem to be so standard around here, until they aren't anymore.

Um, did you read the article?
He also said that if BRC violates the population cap for a second year in a row, it could be barred from holding future events, although the high population cap should mean that won't be a big problem this year, clearing the way for Burning Man's steady growth through at least 2016.
While it would be lovely if those tickets get released, it would be less lovely if a population overflow like last years shut the event down permanently. Trilo spends a lot of time in BMHQ, personally I trust his take on the issue until I hear otherwise.

You get the feeling that remembering my "jumping" on him is the only sort of action he's got in a while?

Fuck and pretty much what I meant is that if something more does (and thinking about the ramifications from some article by a known shit-stirrer might actually be her way of saying "no") get released it would be a very nice extra....

Yeah, I bet he's bitching about the fact htat his ticket isn't there yet. Or would be if he had one...

Not too worried about the ticket, got everything else sewn up, only a matter of time. As to your other comment, how many men/women does 30,000 eplaya posts pull? I've never seen people have much success with "I'm a big deal on a Burning Man website" or any website for that matter. Kinda like virgin or foreveralone jokes: the only people making them fall in the ridiculed camp, or are actually airing their own massive insecurities.

Unless Marian was misquoted I don't see how the source matters. I've listen to a lot of realpolitik speak in my time, that wasn't a very strong way of saying "no" mainly because she didn't say no, only that the matter is under consideration.

PS I don't distrust Trilo; he's always done right by me and seems to do a great job around here. More pleasant than many, that's for sure.

I just wanted to say YAHOO! for xefxproductions, margoat, and tsmalls (tsmalls, your post made me laugh I could so feel your joy)! monstazownzu - and anyone I am forgetting who have gotten tix since I got mine. I still watch this everyday so I can share in the happiness. Still on pins and needsles for Feetofclay, VK Arnoldo.....hoooppppiiiing! This latest scuttlebut about more tickets, I don't think its clear what is going on but it sure sounds like it may be a possibility. If so it would certainly be the fairest to put them in STEP and reopen it if they can to the people who have been trying to get tix since the lottery. xoxoxoxo

So, how can we "step up" the case for STEP to the BMLLC in light of this new situation? Who can we ply with promises of foot-rubs, wine and, uh... We need lobbytits! I mean a lobbyist!

Surely you think that STEP would be first in line for any new tix. Considering there were only 2000 people at the start enough people have reported about getting ticket, how many people could be left in line? Timestamps are they an accurate gage? At least for maybe how far in it is. I personally got a tix with timestamp 12:07 but did not purchase since I had gotten a distributed tix, at a higher price! Hang in there folks. 2000 spots in the original step list.. representing up to 4000 ticket wants (if everyone wanted 2)

a casual count of self reported step buyers is that lots of people wanted 2..

in early may, May 2nd.. it was reported in jack rabbit speaks Volume 16, Issue #17 that "about 1000 tickets" have gone through step... STEP opened feb 29th

It most certainly has! More than anything, I'm excited to bring the structure my roommate and I built for it out! We took it to a regional this year just in case, god forbid, we didn't get a hold of tickets. And believe it or not, I'm actually excited to begin acculturating all the new virgins! It's gonna be a good burn!!
