There's good news, and bad news...
The bad news is I have osteo-arthritis, a vitamin D and calcium deficiency and need cortisone shots in my knees.
The good news is I don't have Rheumation arthritis, or Inflammatory arthritis, a type of arthritis that involves the immune system and inflammation of the joints. My rheumatologist told me I have the garden variety of arthrtis. I'll be getting shots in my knees on the 12th of June and help with my vitamin and calcium deficiency too! I'm still alive, joyful, and will be getting better soon! Happy dance will ensue in 5 minutes!!

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Yay!! Happy dances are a good thing. Very good.
The bad news is that I went tubing this weekend with not only a hard hat and a safety vest on, but my very wet and now dead iPhone in my pocket. Contract not up for renewel. Screwed. Toss in a throat infection and lost voice from very drunkenly screaming "I'M RICK JAMES, BITCH!" all night. Gotta love redneck camping.
The good news is that my old iPhone that I had stashed which was completely bricked, magically came back to life and worked perfect after a software reinstall. All is well.
Yeah so my bad news/good news is pretty lame compared to yours, but I thought I'd play..

The bad news is the 3000/6000 watt inverter I bought on CL for $120 last year quit working.
The good news is that when I called the manufacturer to find out where to get it fixed, they said it was cheaper to send me a new one.
So they did!!!
I got it today and they did'nt even ask for proof of purchase!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you both had great good news!
And as far as my bad news JS, it all sounds bad but it isn't really. I just have to adjust my life a bit. I'll miss doing a few things I used to do, but it's all good! I hope your throat infection is healing!
FIGGY, totally great news on the inverter!! whatever it is!!

It's a gizmo that you hook to a 12 volt battery to run stuff you would normally plug into your house.
This monster costs about $400 and I use it to run an electric jackhammer for digging holes when I move saguaros.
It comes in handy a BM for my big drill that I use to put in the super long bolts that I use instead of tent stakes.
No pounding or prying for me!
It was so unexpected that they sent me a brand new one for free.

Score, FIGJAM!
MA, I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well, but I'm glad to hear you'll be mostly better soon, and that it's not one of the much scarier alternate possibilities. It seems like this is a week of victories for you.
JS, I'm sorry you're under the weather now, but it sounds like it may have been worth it. And the only logical interpretation of the iPhones story is that they share a single soul, and it takes turns inhabiting the bodies.

Re: There's good news, and bad news...
The good news today is that oil dropped to $81.72/barrel, down $2.38 (2.8%). Since May 3 oil is down from a high of $105.59 for a drop of $23.87, down 22.6%.
The bad news is here in California the average price per gallon remains around $4.08, a drop of only 16 cents (3.7%). Now, would somebody care to enlighten me why we should keep the current crop of charlatans in Sacramento?

I didn't know you could get arthritis from gardening.
Re: There's good news, and bad news...
The bad news is they happily sent you a new one because it's made by nine-year-old slave labor in China at a total manufacturing cost of three bucks.FIGJAM wrote:It was so unexpected that they sent me a brand new one for free.

Shall I laugh or weep?
I don't make emotional investments in thing's I don't have control over.
I called to find out where to have it repaired and they sent me a new one instead.
I bought it on craigs list, so they were under no obligation.
I think it was a nice suprise.
By the way, is Milicent "china free"?

No, no -- my whole life is awash in stuff from China. It's an unavoidable fact; China is the World's manufacturer now. The American Century is ancient history. Americans now spend their working days selling (Chinese made) video games to each other. It wasn't a criticism; just an explanation. Bad news, yes. Criticism no.

Well . . . it's easier to get another job when you already have one. So I guess there's that?
I hated the best job I ever had, for the first 2-3 weeks. Maybe you'll luck out.

Re: There's good news, and bad news...
The good news is I've managed to save up enough to cover my ticket(come on, STEP!) airfare, baggage, car/box truck rental, gas, food and water.
The bad news is my car will need to be replaced soon.
The good news is I work at a dealership.
The bad news is they don't pay me enough to buy what we sell without wiping out my BM savings+trade in value.
The good news is my credit is decent so I could qualify for financing or loans.
The bad news is I already have (thankfully low) five figure student loan debt in repayment.
The good news is if I get that ticket I will be coming home, some way, some how.

I love Gretchen to death, but she's got 219,000 miles on her, an as-yet undiagnosed shudder on idle, needs a lower engine mount, MIL is on for a P0141 O2 sensor heater circuit (tested the sensor and it was okay, so I need to go chasing sparks to figure out if I've got wiring issues), she's got a pulley squeak, the dash temperature gauge just started fluctuating wildly between low and midrange, the passenger window switch needs to be replaced, the antenna is bent and doesn't retract (separate issues), the cd player doesn't work, needs new radiator hoses...Elliot wrote:Does it have an expiration date? I just replaced my alternator a month ago, and my valve cover gasket a few months before that, and two engine mounts before that. She's going to cost more to fix (doing all the work myself) than her trade-in value, and even then its going to be a game of "what's going to break this month?"

Good news: You understand what's going on, so you can make your own decision. I'll hush up.
Medium news: But I'd replace the squeaky idler pulley right away, before the bearing suddenly disintegrates and leaves you stranded.

The good news: A chest x-ray and repeated use of the stethoscope has convinced my doctor that my lungs are clear and healthy. The fact that I'm not a smoker and don't have any other risk factors has convinced her that there's almost certainly nothing more to this persistent cough than... its persistence.
The bad news: I've been coughing for 7 weeks and there's nothing that can be done except to wait it out.
