You'll be fine, catinthefunnyhat, there are two such times every single day.

No, no, that's fine. It's my standard response to the word "leg" or indeed most words pertaining to legs and feet. Being without the referent leaves me a little metaphorically askew when they prominently feature in a discussion.

I think it's pretty obvious that I get all excited about something and go super-rude. I hope that I at least conveyed a sense of "yeah, I coulda done that better..."

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I don't know if they have them in the states, but we have a store called XS Cargo. They sell a lot of refurbished stuff. I have bought both my nephews cameras there. They take good pictures. One is a Kodak and the other was a Olympus or Nikon (I can't remember). I only paid about $25 for each. The boys were 16 and 18 at the time. I didn't want to buy expensive cameras, because they had a tendency of taking things to parties, and loosing them.lucky420 wrote:so itching to buy a camera today...
We use disposables for the burn and just about everywhere else. There is only one photo processing place where I live that will process these anymore.
So itching...
If you have an XS Cargo in your area, I recommend checking it out.

Thanks peyote2004, but I went ahead and bit the bullet. I splurged (well for me anyway) and bought a panasonic lumix fz150. It is probably more than I need but I think I can grow with it...
I got my order of Shot in the dArk shot glasses this week, a big piece of fur to make a blanket or a big coat for my son, some pillows to cover in groovy fur and some more string lights for camp.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I learned an ebay lesson a couple of years ago. I was looking for a specific cheap old kodak model digital camera that worked with our photo upload program at work. I bid on 4 cameras. Now I have 4 cheap kodak digital cameras. in the long run it's great because I spent so little, care so little about them, and they aren't that bad. perfect excursion cameras. C310, C320.
I had a nice Minolta 35mm system, and trudged around with that weight and found I didn't take many happy snaps at all with that set up. then I got a small 35mm point and shoot, and started taking more pictures since it was easy to carry. With the digital crappies, even better. But at Burning man, I don't take a lot of photos. I take some of my camp, and my friends, and a few of major installations. I know I can't capture what I'd really like to portray, and online many great photographers have shared their work.
I just ordered some good silly socks.

Finished lighting half my full length faux fur coat with LEDS. (battery operated Christmas lights actually) My electrical skill are non existent, and I found a great deal on them. I wasn't too concerned with perfect straight lines, because they look so much better twinkling, so I'll leave them on one of the pattern settings. Please excuse the poor photos.

Fun coat, VC! And I'm with you regarding cameras Elorrum. The geek in me drools and gets excited over some of the super-deluxe models out there with all their power and luxury, but I've found that there's an awful lot to be said for a camera that's easy to have on hand. Some of my favorite photographs aren't from planned shoots, but captured random moments and adventures.
I picked up a bunch of supplies, everything I think I'll need for the wiring/electrical/lighting as well as the paint for the deli.

Finally started on the matching bra for the skirt I made a few months ago. Spent last night sewing on coordinating fabric patches to an old lace bra. Then I need to figure out what to do for Mr. Fufa's matching outfit.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
We haven't had good results with any form of glow in the dark stuff on the playa - my theory is that charging was no problem (with the intense sunlight) however the glow is so faint that even the thinnest layer of dust obscures it.tattoogoddess wrote: Does anyone know how long the Nightglow Fimo lasts?
We had this problem with paints of several types, colors, and brands as well as screen printing ink we mixed ourselves with glow powder. We have not tried Fimo, but similar results wouldn't surprise me. Those paints which were both glow and uv reactive still glowed under a black light, however the self glowing portion was an abject failure for us on the playa.
We originally thought the heat had somehow ruined it, but off playa it works fine still.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.
