Re: Tautology Club!
I keep trying to conceal my truth in lies.
T.O.P. Factoid # 23: On May 17, 1884, P. T. Barnum proved the Brooklyn Bridge was stable by having Jumbo, and a parade of 21 elephants, walk over it. Very clever marketing.

Re: Tautology Club!
Was one of those elephants later executed by electrocution until death?

Fishy...
Your question led me to the Wikipedia rabbit-hole, and I ended up finding this list of historical elephants. It's an interesting read, but not if you're looking for something cheerful.
In answer to your question, the only elephant that I see who got electrocuted was a Coney Island Zoo elephant, not one of Barnum's.

I thought that it probably wasn't one of Barnum's, but wasn't sure. Let's just say that the event was so
Okay, it was disgusting and I never watched the film, and I'm just as glad...

Re: Tautology Club!
Yeah, I didn't watch the film either. It's embedded on the Wikipedia page about Topsy. There are things I don't need to see. It will not enlighten me.
Gyre: Yeah, Topsy was an elephant who killed 3 men, including an abusive trainer who tried to feed her a lit cigarette. She was sentenced to death. The normal method of executing an elephant in those days (late 1800s) was hanging. The SPCA protested, so a "humane" option was sought. Edison was at that time in competition with Tesla to develop a standard for electrical power. Edison arranged to have the elephant executed using Tesla's AC system, as a demonstration of how "dangerous" it was compared to his own DC system.
FWIW, Topsy died in seconds, probably much faster than she would have done by hanging. Nevertheless, it's horrible. Sigh... thinking about elephants pretty much always puts me in a blue funk. We make life so hard for them, in so many ways.
D'oh! I forgot to remember that we were in Tautology Club.

There are a shit tonne of tautologies on here.
I don't want to spoil any of the magic.
I shouldn't be laughing at it. I linked to this video from a radio station associated with someone on these forums. If that person is here, reading this, I am so sorry.... But you'll have the last laugh when I'm left behind, right? Because I.am.going.to.hell.

Sure, laugh at me because as we speak, my DNA is being upgraded.
On a serious note: This year has been a phase of transition for me. I do feel the sense of urgency and need to go home (and by home, no not burning man).

By home, do you mean where you were born and/or raised? Do you still have family there?
Sorry to be so nosy... if you don't mind, I'd love to hear about where it is. But only if you want to share that.
I hope you can get back and reconnect with your roots.

It's hard to maintain a monogamous relationship with more than one person at a time.

Well, they're usually in favour of a one-sided, patriarchal polygamy (specifically, polygyny, i.e. multiple wives).
Also, most socially conservative people consider polyamoury or open relationships to be worse than cheating, which to me is the height of cognitive dissonance. "Having multiple partners is bad, but it's slightly less bad if you hide it from your primary partner." --- *record scratch* WOT?!

Try:
"Please do not wash dishes in the dishwasher. Either wash them in the sink, or let the dishwasher wash them for you."
Something like that?
