First time here and a Burgin for 2012. Headed up from San Jose, Ca and wanted to say hi. Im coming up alone so I will have room in my car but will post those details on the ride share board.

I have spent the last 3 months reading the Survival guide while at work... heheh
And then went onto the threads to look for answers that came up from reading the survival guide. I still have questions but I will re-read the survival guide first before posting them.
I may be a Burgin but I will be a well read Burgin....
Yep on the water, I think I have that covered. 5ea 5gal jugs should do it plus the Gartoraid. for me... I will put fresh water in the cars radiator just in case.... Actually it is a Ford Explorer so I am good...

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

And, I'd like to say thank you very much!
So basically its one of these 7 gallon deals per person, plus 1 for cleaning, and 1 for spare. Though, we also keep some of those 3 liter Arrow head jugs in each tent for those sleepy time "I'm thirsty but I don't wanna get out of bed" drinks.
For one person, I bet you would be OK with just 2 of the 7 gallon aquatainers. Plus the valve flips around and they stack very nicely and are sturdy.
And, I'd like to say thank you very much!

Yeah...you don't have to be nutso about the water...don't forget you'll be getting water from other sources such as juices, electrolyte replacement drinks, coffee/tea, BEER (and don't anyone give me any crap about beer making you pee more...that's what it's supposed to do!)

What sort of shower contraption do you plan to bring and much water does it use on average?
If you are gifting showers, then a spare 11 gallons might not be enough.

Also keep in mind that if you have a seperate ice chest for beer/soda, as the ice melts it's still (by playa standards at least) comparatively clean. It can easily be recycled (5 pounds of ice = 1 gallon of water according to Google) into shower water. If you're like most of us you will run through 2 to 3 bags of ice per day. That's more than enough for a nice shower.

I have 2 3gl shower bags and a 2gl pump mister. I plan on freezing 1gl bottles of water for ice use so I can recycle them for drinking and showers, cleaning.ect.
I built a 6'sq 2x4 evap pool from a friends stash of burn goodies.
Im not coming in blind, I live in Santa Clara and have 20+ friends who have years of experience on the playa, Only 1 got a tix this year.
They have been very helpful and laughing at/with me as well as I get ready for my own journey...
I will be the dusty guy with a black shower bag and boots, come by and see me....
